Title: Climax

Author: Sexxa Kohl

Release Date: February 19th 2014

Genre: Erotic Romance

If you’d asked me what I thought I’d be doing at twenty-two, it certainly wouldn’t be taking my clothes off for complete strangers. The world sees me as a whore and a worthless piece of trash. No one would ever believe that I am still a virgin, waiting to find love. I think I can easily say that I don’t think love is ever going to be finding me at Club Climax.

I give the crowd what they want. For the next two and half minutes, I dance, undress, shake my ass, and slide up and down the metal pole. I am in complete control while I am up here on this stage. The dancers make the rules at this place. That is except for the room in the far back, known as Ultimate Climax. It is the one place where all power is surrendered; the one place in this club that I said I’d never go, no matter how desperate I got. The price is just too high for me, and I refuse to sell myself to the highest bidder. I cannot afford to lose the only thing I have left… My control.

Sometimes, the day comes when we have to do the things that we said we would never do. For me, that day is here. I take a deep breath, grab the door handle, and know that once I walk through that door, my whole life will forever change.

Little did I know just how much it actually would.

Between Us by Jen McLaughlin

I’m just a girl…

I’m a famous country star who’s spent her life cultivating a good girl persona to avoid bad press, but I’ve reached my limit. I’m going away for spring break with my two best friends from college, and we’ve vowed to spend the vacation seeking out fun in the sun—along with some hot, no-strings-attached sex. The only thing I needed was the perfect guy, and then I met Austin Murphy. He might be totally wrong for me, but the tattooed bad boy is hard to resist. When I’m in his arms, everything just feels right.

And I’m just a guy…

I’m just a bartender who lives in Key West, stuck in an endless cycle of boredom. But then Mackenzie Forbes, America’s Sweetheart herself, comes up to me and looks at me with those bright green eyes…and everything changes. She acts like she’s just a normal girl and I’m just a normal guy, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. My past isn’t pretty, you know. I did what I had to do to survive, and she’d run if she learned the truth about my darkness. But with her, I’m finally realizing what it’s like to be alive. To laugh, live, and be happy.

All good things must come to an end…

Mackenzie is a country singer on spring break with her best friends on Key West. Their goal – to let themselves go and have a no strings-attached fling. Used to living in the limelight but looking to take a break from it, Mac decides that this will be her time to be normal. So with her hair colored and a big ass sun hat she takes to the night life in Key West in search of her adventure.

Austin’s life is simple in its routine but weighed down by his responsibilities. An aspiring singer who gave up his search for fame to attend to his sister, Austin works as a bartender and sings whenever he has a chance. He’s not proud of his past, but he doesn’t have time to dwell on it. But meeting Mac has awakened feelings and desires he never thought he would want.

What started as a harmless fling to be forgotten after the week is done soon turns into something neither of them want to let go of. Only time will tell if they can make it work once spring break has passed and their past experiences and current expectations come to light.

This was such a great story to get into! It was fun, light on the angst and packed-full of hotness and romance.

I enjoyed the way Jen McLaughlin went about telling this story. From the beginning, I was intrigued by Mac’s situation and her quest to have the time of her life in Key West. She was fun, caring and flirty, which complemented Austin’s sexiness and protective side well. I loved that she was feisty and confident, while Austin was both caring and understanding of Mac’s situation. I think they brought the best out of each other which made me cheer them on as the story moved along.

Of course their chemistry was off-the-charts HOT, but for me what made this story worth it was the amount of moments that they spent just sharing their lives with each other. Through flirtatious banter, honest interactions and tender moments, the author made sure that Mac and Austin’s initial connection deepened.  I liked that they kept trying to keep their emotions out of the equation and that love ultimately kicked them in the ass.

Like I said, this was not an overwhelming angsty story, but it did have some emotional moments, which coupled with the sizzling chemistry Mac and Austin shared made this a very enjoyable read for me.

Beyond Me by Jennifer Probst

Can fun in the sun turn into lasting love?

Spring break in Key West with my besties was supposed to be casual fun. But I never expected to meet James Hunt. Sex and frolic? Yes! A relationship? No. But his hot blue eyes and confident manner drew me in. And when he let me see the man behind the mask, I fell hard, foolishly believing there could be a future for us. Of course I never considered our relationship might be based on lies…or that his betrayal could rock my foundation and make me question everything I believed in…

Or will a life built on lies ruin everything?

The moment I saw Quinn I knew I had to have her. She hooked me with her cool eyes and don’t touch me attitude. I had it all, money, social status, and looks. I could get any girl I wanted…until her. When my friends challenged me with a bet to get her into bed by the end of the week, I couldn’t pass it up. But sex wasn’t supposed to turn into love. She wasn’t supposed to change me, push me, and make me want more for myself. She wasn’t supposed to wreck me in all ways. And now, if I can’t turn my lies into truth, I just might lose her forever…

Quinn’s life has revolved around control. Ever since she can remember she has tried to stay in control of every aspect of her life – her family, her studies, her work. So although she’s a bit hesitant about their mission this spring break, she can’t deny that letting go for a couple of days could be beneficial to her state of mind.

James is rich, handsome and lives without a care in the world. Well, at least that’s what he wants everyone around him to believe. However, James is harboring some issues that he has shoved away in lieu of hook-ups, alcohol and good times. But from the moment he laid eyes on Quinn, he knew that his usual approach will not work on her. He was intrigued by her – she was shy but spoke her mind, sexy without even trying and she saw through his facade easily.

After reading Between Us, I was looking forward to starting another story in the series since I enjoyed that one so much. However, I was not prepared for the range of emotions I encountered on this one. I loved it!

James was such a lost soul that it broke my heart to see him struggle so much with his emotions. Yeah sure, he struggled about his emotions for Quinn, but he also dealt with some issues from his past. It was that glimpse into his pain that had me melting in the spot. His vulnerability and insecurity were surprising, which only spurned me to cheer him on more.

Quinn was an awesome character too. She was not usually flirty or outgoing, but with James she truly let go. He brought out a passionate, sensual side of her that allowed her to let go of her need to control everything about her life. But it was the pain she saw in him that brought out her caring instinct. I also admired her strength if character. She knew she couldn’t heal him, but she laid herself bare to him which served to make him confront his fears.

Needless to say that their chemistry was explosive. Their heated looks, their soft touches and the way they truly let go with each other whenever they were together made for a sizzling read. I loved them together – in and out of the bedroom. Their interactions were fun, emotion packed and a treat to experience.

All in all, an exceptional lovely read with characters that you could relate to easily, chemistry abound and overwhelming emotions.

Ryan is a hanging on to his sanity by a thread. His constant struggle to deal with his past has made him a shell of the man he could be. Without a doubt, he has come a long way. But there are only so many times that you can shove the past into a corner and not deal with it. Ultimately, it is going to come up, bite you in the ass and explode all around you.

This is how we find Ryan. From the outside, he has it all – a great career, a great daughter, a happy life. But underneath that facade is a man who is struggling to keep away the demons that haunt him.

What a roller-coaster ride of a story!

When the story begins, we are immediately catapulted into Ryan past. The situation is horrendous, the account of it even more so. Kudos to Margaret McHeyser for bringing forth such a horrific set of events in a way that has your heart breaking for the child Ryan used to be but glad that he is still able to lead the life he does.

There’s not much that I can say without giving too much away and I hate it because I want to tell you what Ryan’s story entails.

Heartache. Fear. Lust. Yearning. Discovery. Frustration. Freedom. Happiness.

This is truly a journey of healing and moving on. But the bonus is the hot factor that was added into the mix. The BDSM scenes were great, the sex was wonderful and the connection and chemistry between the characters to die for!

I loved Ryan and Mason together. I loved Ryan and Stella together. I loved it all!

I laughed and I cried. I tapped the hell out of my tablet when the BDSM scenes came on, I read, re-read, highlighted and devoured it all.

My only complaint would be that I didn’t get to truly experience the connection between Stella and Ryan as more than Master and sub until the story was almost done. I did enjoy their scenes and appreciated the way Stella went about dealing with Ryan and his issues. I just wish I could have seem them together more outside their play time so that I could fully experience the extent of their connection as a couple. If I’m being truthful, I thought Ryan shared more of a connection on the page with Mason than he ever did with Stella.

But thankfully, that didn’t interfere with my enjoyment of the overall story. In the end, Margaret Mcheyzer made sure that I had enough of their connection to accept the outcome and come away happy when I finished.

All in all, an intense emotional read about finding yourself again and fighting your demons by leaving your past behind and leading the life you were meant to live.

I startle awake as I leap off the bed and sprawl on the floor.

“Ry!” Mason yells from the other side of the door. I jump up off the floor and swing the bedroom door open.

“You scared the shit out of me, Mason.” I run my hand over my eyes and face trying to wake up. “What do you want, man?” But I’m met with silence. When I look over at Mase, he’s staring at my body. He’s mouth’s open and his eyes are so wide. He rakes his stare down my body, then back up again. He lifts an eyebrow as he ogles me. I look down and notice I’m completely naked. I fell asleep on my bed with just the towel wrapped around me and he scared me with his bashing that now I’m standing before him totally exposed.

He’s not moving away, and neither am I.

“Mason.” I lower my voice as he looks up at me and just stares.

He can see straight through me, totally bare and open, for him to see all my secrets.

“We need to leave in an hour,” Mase says as he takes a step closer to me.

I can feel his heat, and my body instantly reacts to him.

Don’t be a coward Ryan, just reach out and touch him.

His brown eyes turn from a hard brown into a molten chocolate as we stand a mere step apart from each other.

Our breathing is labored and rapid.

Mason reaches forward and brings his hand up to my chest, but before he touches me, his demeanor changes and he retracts it, dropping it beside his body.

“I can’t,” he whispers as he turns away from me and goes into his bedroom.

My head spins as I close my door and stand completely ashamed in my room.

He doesn’t want me.

Why would he?

I’m broken.

About the Author

I don’t do ‘normal’.

I’ve found that the more I write, the more I like being different to other authors. I write in first person, and I love to challenge a reader.

I take the normal and switch it around.

For me, I really enjoy getting a reaction from a reader. So if I can evoke an emotion (regardless of if it’s the emotion the reader wants) then I figure that I’ve done my job as an author I want to be.

I really quite revel in taking people out of their comfort zones and pushing them to read something different.

My genre of writing is, well quite frankly, where ever my mind goes. I won’t label myself because I don’t like sticking to one genre.

My goal with writing is just to take people away from whatever is going on in their lives, even if it’s only for a split second.

I’m a go with the flow sort of person and don’t really take a course of action to get where I am going. I live in the moment and don’t usually worry about tomorrow because whatever life is due to bring me, I’ll be happy to accept.

I love my family and friends and will help anyway I can if someone needs it. I really don’t like people that are nasty just because they can be, I don’t believe that’s necessary, I mean life’s hard enough as it is!

I hope you enjoy my books, I’ve had a hoot writing them. There’s more to come…..

Til next time.

Defining Destiny by Deanna Chase *Review and Excerpt*

Title: Defining Destiny

Author: Deanna Chase

Release Date: February 19th 2014

Genre: New Adult Paranormal (light PNR) Romance

Source: eARC

When destiny fails…

Singer-songwriter Lucy Moore thought her life was perfect. At just twenty-one, she’s already met her soul mate and together they’ve landed a recording contract. But when her father dies and the love of her life betrays her in more ways than one, she returns home to pick up the pieces. On the shores of Mendocino, California, Lucy has some decisions to make. Should she start a solo career? Or should she leave it all behind for some semblance of normalcy in the quiet town she grew up in? And what about Seth, the tortured artist who always seems to be there when she needs him?

Seth Keenan has demons of his own. Eighteen months ago, he was involved in a horrific accident that he never talks about. His career as an accomplished oil-paint artist has been abandoned, replaced by the buzz of his tattoo gun. And women—well, he never sticks around for longer than a few hours of pleasure… until he meets Lucy. After one evening of listening to her seductive voice, he’s pulled under. But what about the vow he made to never get close to anyone again?

In a world where everyone has one true soul mate, can these two find love in the arms of each other?

Amazon | Barnes & Noble

4 stars

Lucy is disillusioned with her life. She’s still mourning her father’s death, dealing with her inconsiderate ‘soul mate’ and just plain tired of the life she’s living. She just wants to sing. So when her boyfriend betrays her in several ways, she flees to her father’s house – away from the limelight and away from her problems.

Seth lives his life without too many entanglements – or so he thinks. Ever since his ‘soul mate’ died in car accident, he hasn’t allowed himself to live or love. That is until a mesmerizing woman with a captivating voice grabs his attention.

Instantly attracted to each other, both Seth and Lucy determine to stay away from one another. Lucy has already found her soul mate and Seth lost his, so the chances of anything other than a sexual relationship is nil.

Of course fate has other plans. While pursuing a friendship with benefits for the time being, Seth starts developing feelings for Lucy he once thought unable to feel again. Likewise, Lucy starts to feel the ‘rightness’ of being with Seth. The comfort he brings and the underlying tenderness for which he cares for her clashes with what she’s been living with in her relationship with her soul mate.

I’m going to be honest with you and tell you straight up that that whole soul mate concept threw me off a time or three. Every other idea, though or emotion was bound to the soul mate concept so it was hard for me to keep a straight face. Yes, I am that skeptical.

However, overlooking that little tidbit and focusing on the overall story I am happy to say that I loved it! Yes, Seth and Lucy’s story was worth all my eye rolls.

What made this story so enjoyable to me were the characters. Lucy was smart, caring and a great person all around. She felt real. She struggled with her emotions with her boyfriend but faced the truth of her relationship with him. What I admired most about her was her determination to find her own way and the way she faced her fears of the unknown about both relationships before acting out. She questioned, she pondered and did whatever was best for her. Her only fault was confronting those issues head on with the men in her life, but really who doesn’t need a bit more time to get their head on straight?

Seth was great, I loved him from the start. I enjoyed his sense of humor, his tenacity at getting to the bottom of what Lucy was making him feel and his caring ways. His story was sad, but that just made his new-found happiness that much more enjoyable to me.

Needless to say that the chemistry between the two was explosive. From the moment they laid eyes on each other you could feel how strong their attraction for each other was. And that first encounter? Man, that was hot! Kudos to Deanna Chase for building up the anticipation and keeping me captivated throughout.

But really, I would have to say that my favorite parts were when they were just hanging around, sharing their experiences and cementing their connection. I wish I could have seem more of that, but what was brought to the page was enough for me to cheer them on. I loved what they each brought out from one another. Together they were happy not just content. They would let their walls down and be themselves, which ultimately made their connection deeper and their coming together more believable in my eyes.

All in all, a wonderful romantic read about two individuals that didn’t settle for what they once had with other people but instead embraced what they had found in each other.

– SIDENOTE: After I had read the book and written my review I learned that this was a light PNR. Apparently in this ‘world’ Deanna Chase created the whole soul mate thing is part of everyday life. Just thought I’d let you know.

“Dude.” Derek leans over the bar and grabs a bottle of water from a bucket of ice. “Of all the nights to ask me to be the designated driver, you had to choose this one?” He twists the top and takes a long slug. He’s just come from work and is still wearing his blue firefighter T-shirt. He’ll have five girls begging him to take them home within forty-five minutes. Or less, if he starts buying them drinks. “How am I going to get through this without something to take the edge off?”

“Get through what?” I purposely ignore the way he’s looking at Jax. He’s had a slight obsession with her for as long as I can remember, yet he’s never made a move. And as far as I know, he never plans to.

He lifts his water bottle to the crowd. “A night of barely dressed hot chicks. Are you fucking blind?”

I might as well be, because right now, I don’t see anything except the girl strutting out onstage in her sex-bot boots, swaying her hips and seducing the crowd with her eyes before she even opens her mouth.

Jesus. She’s going to kill me. I’m going to combust right here in the bar just staring at her pouty lips. She picks up the microphone and smiles tentatively at Mike, waiting for his cue.

“Omigod!” Jax squeals and grabs my arm. “She’s actually going to go through with it.”

I glance down at her and smile at her huge grin. Jax hasn’t looked this happy in months. Not since before the big breakup. “You were worried she wouldn’t?”

She lets out an ironic huff of exasperation. “Are you kidding? I wasn’t even sure I’d get her to the bar, let alone near the stage.” Her pretty blue eyes meet mine and her smile fades. “Whatever happens, promise me you’ll be nice to her.”

“What the hell, Jax?” I pull away slightly and frown at her, offended she has such a low opinion of me. “What do you think I’m going to do? Mock her and throw beer bottles?”

She clutches my arm and pulls me back. “No. Sorry, I didn’t mean to imply anything. It’s just that this is a huge deal for her and I want it to go smoothly. She belongs up there. She’s not herself when she’s not singing.”

Onstage, the band starts to play, and the girl who’d wobbled her way backstage has transformed into a dazzling, confident crowd-pleaser. She’s standing with her feet shoulder-width apart, her head held high, a seductive smile on her face as she scans the room. Her eyes land on me and she grips the mic with both hands. Then she starts singing. I instantly recognize the song as a popular Mandy Taylor number my sister is always playing. But instead of Mandy’s pop sound, Lucy’s voice is huskier, and she sings it slower. Seductively. She’s fucking mesmerizing.

“Holy shit, dude.” Derek leans forward, eyeing Lucy as if he’s mentally calculating how fast he can rip her clothes off. “Who the hell is that?”

“Don’t even think about it, asshole,” I growl. Where did that come from?

“Awww.” Jax laughs. “You’re such a softy. Look at you, all protective of my friend.” She slips her arm around me and gives me a sideways hug.

“Yeah, softy,” Derek mimics and gives me that guy look that says he knows exactly what’s going on with me and it has nothing to do with being protective.

I glare at him, making sure he knows it doesn’t matter my motives. She’s off-limits to the likes of him.

“God,” Jax whispers. “Look at her.”

My gaze automatically shifts to the fiery pixie onstage.

“I didn’t think it was possible, but whoa. She’s even better than I remember.”

The entire club is riveted, watching her strut around the stage. Then the band pauses and Lucy freezes, the mic held close to her lips. Her eyes scan the crowd, and my breath gets caught in my throat when her gaze lands on me. Something foreign in my gut flips over as her lips turn up into a secret smile I swear is meant just for me.

Jesus, this girl knows what the hell she’s doing. She’s holding me in the palm of her hand, leaving me salivating for more. And though I’m sure I’m not the only one, I can’t tear my eyes away from her to confirm the effect she has on the room.

Her gaze never shifts and she starts singing in the sexiest voice possible, “When it’s just you and me in the dead of the night, I get reckless… reckless… reckless.”

If women tell you they don’t like power, they’re fucking lying. People say I’m arrogant and rude, which is laughable when that is what has drawn them to me in the first place. I would prefer to think of myself as a confident, self-assured man who knows what he wants. And I most definitely knew what I wanted when it came to Evie …

I thought he was what I wanted. I thought he would be perfect. I dreamed of my prince charming – loving me and being the one who I could tell my deepest, darkest fears to. Now all I fear is him. When I found out the truth of not only his, but my parents’ deception, all I wanted to do was run – run as far as I could from my godforsaken life and start again somewhere where nobody would know my name. In reality, I knew that wasn’t possible … well, not until I met Grayson Glines.

Oh, she’s cute alright, but damaged too. Not weak, though, please don’t mistake the two. This girl has fight and balls of steel. She’s got a hard stare that makes you look away, shy that she’s caught you gazing. And her eyes, man, they’re something else. What do they tell me?

Evie lives in fear of her life. Her husband is an arrogant, rich bastard who makes her life a living hell daily. Although she wants to flee, she has to bid her time so that that escape could be successful. In the meantime, she stumbles through life a shell of the young girl she used to be before she got married and continues to hold out hope for a happy and safe future away from her husband.

In one of her unmonitored outings Evie comes to meet Grayson, a handsome young man that works at the deli where she shops. Their attraction is immediate and their connection undeniable. However, she must be cautious. She questions her feelings for the sexy stranger and hesitates to continue contact with him.

But Grayson is persistent. Reluctant to give up on spending time with the woman he can’t stop thinking about, Grayson offers her the friendship she’s yearning for. After years of struggling, Grayson is ready to embrace his life. He wants a relationship and is willing to wait until Evie is able to be with him completely. But fate has other plans and Grayson and Evie find themselves fighting for the connection they share and the happily ever after they so rightly deserve sooner than either of them had anticipated.

Wow! This was such a powerful story of survival. I have to hand it to Shelly Pratt for delivering a gritty, edgy and dark emotional story while still keeping the main characters’ developing romance in the forefront.

I loved and admired Evie early on. She had a fire within her that Alex could not contain and it was that determination to find true happiness that drove her forward and allowed her to embrace what Grayson was offering. Grayson’s story was touching too. I enjoyed seeing him so smitten with Evie. His pursuit of her was intense, yet he still managed to bring her comfort and understanding – two things that were lacking in her life.

Through meaningful and emotional interactions, flirtatious banter and lustful encounters the author made sure that Evie and Grayson’s connection deepened as the story progressed. Their connection was palpable and their chemistry explosive. I loved them together because each brought the best out of each other and gave one another what they had longed for through the years – to love and be loved completely, unconditionally and without judgement.

My only complaint would be that I found that the conflict was wrapped up too easily. Everything fell into place too nicely for me to make it a viable resolution. However, Shelly Pratt’s writing and her handling of the events that led to the resolution of the conflict made it easier for me to accept the outcome.

In another note, kudos to Shelly Pratt for writing such a outstanding creepy villain. Alex was a horrible, despicable man but I did enjoy being in his head. Man, that bastard was sick in the head! I hated him, but couldn’t wait to get into his head whenever the I had the chance.

All in all, an intense and emotional journey about finding the strength within you to embrace the future that awaits you.

Prologue – Alex

If women tell you they don’t like power, they’re fucking lying. They do like it, and do you know how I know this? They’ve all become a little too obsessed with books and movies that make masochistic males out to be the good guys. So as I tell you my side of the story, remember, I’m the good guy. Well, at the very least, I’m good-looking.

People say I’m arrogant and rude, which is laughable when that is what has drawn them to me in the first place. I would prefer to think of myself as a confident, self-assured man who knows what he wants. And I most definitely knew what I wanted when it came to Evie.

That girl wasn’t like the others, which is probably why I took the whole game to another level and had to put a ring on her finger. I wanted her as my property. She needed to be mine to do what I wanted with; mine to control. She was a challenge. Even now I can see it in her eyes as she’s gagging on my cock. Now don’t go and get all soft on me. You think she really doesn’t want this? Bullshit. She’s a great actress, the theatrics all being part of the game. It makes it more exciting for me and her if she puts up a little resistance.

Do you know what I like best about Evie? Her mouth. She’s got these luscious lips that are full and plump. I’m preferable to her painting them with a red glossy lipstick because it gets me off to see the bright stain around my cock as she gives me head. Like the clothes she wears and the way she acts, I control everything down to her make-up. I have her wear the kind of make-up that I’m preferable to. Don’t judge. I told you, I like control.

It’s been a long day. I’ve had conferences with clients and dinner with business partners. We’ve only just returned to our apartment in the city but my night is far from over. There will always be more work, it’s the nature of the beast. I didn’t get to being CEO of my own company by slacking off. Labouring jobs are for losers. Sure, I had a privileged upbringing and was born with the proverbial silver spoon in my mouth, but I still believe in good work ethics. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and if I want to continue on my path of wealth and success then I’m damn well going to put my work before absolutely everything.

First things first, though. Despite the lateness of the evening, I wanted a little release. I wanted those red lips on my cock, sucking me until my balls cease to ache with lust. I’m not going to stop until I’ve squirted my seed into her throat and made her swallow the whole damn lot.

Nights like these, I prefer to sit in my leather chair that faces out of the panorama glass windows that afford views over the Brisbane River. The lights of the Story Bridge twinkle back at me and the water looks dark, murky and mysterious under the night sky. I bought this apartment as a wedding gift for Evie, but for the most part I don’t think she likes it. Ungrateful springs to mind, although it could just be the company. I’m seriously laughing as I tell you that, because to be honest, I don’t give a fuck whether she likes me or not. She’s mine and that’s all that matters.

While downing my fifth scotch for the evening, I beckon her to me. She says nothing, but she knows what I want. Forget the elephant in the room; it’s a bit hard to hide my bulging erection that I’ve freed from my pants. Most people would be worried about getting their four hundred dollar trousers dirty. Not me. That kind of money is pocket change in my world. Despite her eagerness to oblige me, there is a reason behind her willing to please. I mean come on, if you haven’t figured it out already you’re not as smart as I thought you were. Okay, I’ll spell it out for you any way. I get a little rough. Not all the time, but if you don’t give me what I want, well, let’s just say there are consequences.

‘On your knees’. There was no need for the command, but fuck, I’ve got to say I like the sound of my own voice. It’s rich, deep, commanding and powerful. It speaks of a man who has always gotten what he wants. Evie is no exception. I wanted her then and I want her now. She obliges me

by sliding to her knees, her silk stockings making it slippery on the tiles for her. She grabs my knees to steady herself before leaning forward to take me in her mouth, all the while not making eye contact with me. I let her get away with it for the minute, but my patience has limits.

Her mouth is hot and wet. It is utter delight as her lips start to move back and forth over my shaft, messily leaving behind her lipstick as she does. As she goes to work on me, I down the last of my drink before taking her carefully done braid in my grasp. Evie is definitely in my league as far as looks go. She’s got long, blonde hair that has never seen the inside of a salon. All the streaks and highlights are from time spent outdoors. Sometimes she likes to challenge me on my rule of her keeping it natural. I think her opposing opinions are merely to rile me up so that I put her in her place. Yes, I do think she secretly likes me smacking her arse. It may belittle her at the time but you can be rest assured it makes her think twice before raising the subject again. I refuse to have my wife look like some fake, tarted-up bimbo. I want her looking natural – well, except for the red lippy. The red lipstick stays.

I’m not going to give it up easily. I’m going to make her work for it. Hell, I even zone out for a while, taking in the city that is my playground. Living and working in a town that is fast becoming a place that doesn’t sleep is like a drug. The more I immerse myself in it, the more I want to be king of this empire. Slowly but surely I’m putting other companies out of business. Pretty soon I’m going to have everything I ever dreamed of.

Evie is sucking greedily now. Not because she’s into it, because she’s not. Oh let’s be honest! She just wants me to give it up so she can get the job over and done with. I know she doesn’t mind me fucking her vanilla, but blowjobs have never been her thing. She tried to pull off me once just as I was about to come. What a mistake. She’s never tried to pull that shit again, although she still gags, the reflex an unbreakable trait. Like now, for example; even in the darkly lit living room I can see her eyes beginning to water as my dick swells against the back of her throat. I’m sure she can taste my pre-come – the salty, bitter fluid already affording her a taste of what’s to come.

I slide a little lower in my leather seat, thrusting just that little bit more inside of her mouth. She tries to back off, although there’s no escape. Her braid that is wound tightly around my fist is tugged ever so slightly, a reminder that I have control of her head. I’m close and she knows it. I can feel her reposition my dick towards the back corner of her mouth where her molars are so she doesn’t have to taste my semen on her taste buds. If I was any kind of man, which I am, I should be rather insulted by this – which I am. And when I’m insulted, I’m not very forgiving.

When I come, I come hard. And no, it’s not aimed at the back of her mouth like she’d have liked. Pulling her hair makes her wince and she loses some of the suction on my shaft, her lips making sucking and slurping noises as she tries to reposition me back to where she’d like me. Unfortunately for her, she’s too late. Her perfectly positioned tongue is only lapping at the eye of my cock when I blow in her mouth. I’ve got to give her credit for her spunk because she does try to pull away. Unsuccessfully, I might add. My grip on her hair forces her to remain right where she is. I keep her there until I’m licked clean. Getting a blow job is not as good as fucking her pussy, but it sure comes a close second. I never give her the satisfaction of pleasurable sounds coming from my mouth, though, because that would be giving her the green light that she has in some way pleased me. And with the knowledge that she has pleased me would give her power. Power I don’t want her to have.

There may, or may not be tears in her eyes tonight. They have no effect on me whatsoever. I dismiss her to bathe before bed while I pour myself a refill of scotch. Twenty-two stories below, people are still walking the boardwalk that runs along the river’s edge. Some are alone, others huddled together like love birds. It’s a sentiment I’m not familiar with. My whole life is lived like a business transaction. I know I like having Evie in my life and I know I like the status of being a married man. But love, well, it’s not for me.

In the beginning I know Evie foolishly thought that it could be that way between us. Like her parents, she was lured into the deception I was selling. Trust me when I say, no one sells lies like I do. I showed them what they wanted to see; revealed the parts of me and my life that would be desirable by a family like theirs. Each and every one of them fell hook, line and sinker. It’s laughable, really, that one family could be so gullible. I’m sure over the last three years they’ve all tried to think a way out of the Alex Stratford contract, but all I can say is, ‘Over my dead body,’ or more likely, over theirs.

Spark (Spark Series #1) by Jennifer Ryder *Review*

Title: Spark (Spark Series #1)

Author: Jennifer Ryder

Release Date: February 28, 2014

Not many people know that I, Eevie Lawson, have a problem. An addiction to romance novels. I eat them for breakfast. I hide it the best I can, but I need them to breathe. It’s how I cope.

I’ve had a swag of book boyfriends, but now that I’m free from the responsibility of caring for my three younger brothers, it’s time to find one in the flesh.

In real life, no girl meets their hero on page one, or even at the end of chapter one. I should know.

My journey is real. It’s not perfect, and it sure as hell isn’t easy—but the fight for something worthwhile never is.

Wow! Eevie’s story sure packed a punch. From the beginning, Jennifer Ryder made sure that I could relate to Eevie by letting me see how deep was her yearning to find man to connect with. Her desire to be loved and love in return felt real.

Eevie has been living her life taking care of others. She’s smart and caring, but she’s at a moment in her life where she wants more. Now that she finally is on her own with time to spend on herself, she wants what she has always longed for – a love of her own.

In comes Aiden, a handsome man she met through friends. They shared an attraction but both were ‘taken’ at the time so neither one acted on it. As the story progresses, Eevie moves on from her ‘relationship’ and tries her hand at another only to realize that she has been going about her journey the wrong way. Although with those ‘relationships’ failing, she still moves on determined not to lose her way again.

Eevie finally has the chance to explore the ‘spark’ she felt with Aiden. Once they lay eyes on each other again their attraction explodes and their connection starts to deepen immediately. Through flirtatious banter, honest interactions and whispered words, Eevie and Aiden get to know each other and open themselves up to the possibility of a relationship.

Although the lust was palpable, I appreciated the other emotions the author threw into the mix. Jennifer Ryder highlighted the conflicting emotions that Eevie felt throughout the story, Aiden’s fear and rage about what happened and their hope that everything would be okay. I enjoyed the characters, their story and their journey.

All in all, a sweet romance with emotional undertones about a woman’s journey to find the man that would ignite in her the spark that had been missing in her life.

After everything Riley and Char have been through the time has finally come to make their relationship official.

There’s not much I can say about this story without giving too many details away. I’ll just say that it was great to see the full cast of characters in all their glory, happy and enjoying their HEA. It was a treat to see them all – friends and family – cheering them both in this new adventure.

Author t.h. Snyder took the time to truly show how deeply connected Char and Riley and how that connection has endured in spite of the hardships they’ve encountered. There were times to reminisce on how these two came to be and times to imagine their future life as husband and wife. There were also some pleasant surprises and emotional moments, but it was Char and Riley’s love that truly shined through.

All in all, a great conclusion to Char and Riley’s story that celebrates Riley and Char’s love with plenty of sweet moments infused with the expected camaraderie between the characters.
