Crash & Burn (Cut & Run #9)
by Abigail Roux

An M/M Romantic Suspense
From Riptide Publishing
Released March 31st 2015

It’s been five years since Special Agents Ty Grady and Zane Garrett first worked together to solve the Tri-State murders, and time has been both harsh and kind. Engaged now, they face the challenge of planning a deeply uncertain future together. Zane is at the pinnacle of his career with one last mystery to solve, while Ty is at sea in a world where he’s no longer the tip of a spear.
There’s just one more hurdle in the way of their happy ever after: a traitor from their inner circle who threatens to burn their world to the ground.

Squeezed between the Vega cartel, an unknown mole, and too many alphabet agencies to count, Ty and Zane must gather all their strength and resources to beat the longest odds they’ve ever faced. To make it out alive, they’ll need help from every friend they’ve got. Even the friends who might betray their trust.

From the very first books where I wanted to throttle Ty and Zane both for being so stubborn to the latest ones where I swooned right along with them, the Cut & Run series has been an adventure filled ride. So here we are at the end of the series–a fantastic series at that. Of course, it’s bittersweet to get to this point but ohhh what an amazing journey it has been!

In this installment we get to see our boys trying to fight for a future together. Secrets are revealed, enemies come to light, some bonds are broken while others are strengthened further. We also get to hang out with the Sidewinders and Liam Bell (ohhh that man!). But most of all we get to see how far Ty and Zane have come the last few years. Their devotion to each other ran deeper than ever before, their love was as fierce as ever and their loyalty to those they love shined throughout.

Kudos to Abigail Roux for making my boys go out with a roar! (no pun intended!) Every single element added to the story only served to further my enjoyment of it. Be it the tender, loving scenes or the action-packed ones, everything worked to bring forth not only how deeply Ty and Zane were bonded but what a fantastic pair of agents they truly were.

And let’s not forget about the twist and turns added at every single turn of the page. These kept me reading well through the night, which my nails (or lack of them!) can attest to that fact. I was riveted, astonished, frustrated and completely engrossed.

Like I said before, it’s sad to see Ty and Zane’s story come to a close but Abi did a wonderful job of bringing it to the page. I love my boys and it was such a thrill to them coming out on top and stronger than ever. Hell, even Liam Bell got to me!

All in all, a fabulous conclusion to a wonderful series. Hopefully there’ll be more from the Sidewinders and the elusive Liam Bell in the near future. Well done Abi Roux. Well done indeed!

  1. This is my favorite M/M series, and seeing it end is just unbearable, but at least I can be with all my favorite characters one last time :'( Thank you so much for this last book, Aby! ♥

  2. I can’t believe it’s over! That wasn’t a long enough goodbye. DX

I can’t believe who died in this book. One of those characters in particular I thought would have warranted a great spin-off with Liam Bell. GEEZ. But really, I do hope there is more Liam Bell in the future…

  3. Love this series and Crash & Burn was a fantastic HEA for Ty & Zane! Lots of action and intrigue but also lots of sweet Ty & Zane moments. I loved the marriage and vows scene..lovely!! I’m sad for it to be over but T & Z will always remain one of my favourite OTP’s. Thanks for such a great series and characters, Abi!!

  4. Ty and Zane will always be number 1 in my heart. I loved everything about this series and I’m sad to see it end.

  5. I have so many nostalgic feels after reading this last book. All those bad puns, figuring out whose the real bad guy behind the scenes, spiked drinks and wedding feels. This series, these characters, this humor is wonderful. Thank you, Abi.

  6. I wondered how Abi would end this- how do you send guys like Ty and Zane off into the sunset? I wasn’t disappointed at all. Now, how soon can we find them popping up in other things?

  7. After letting everything sink in, a re-read will be definitely be happening to pick up on all the little breadcrumbs. Great finish Abi!

  8. This is my very favorite series and I’m going to miss Ty and Zane…I’m hoping they pop up now and again in the Sidewinder stories. Wonderful book. Thanks so much to Abigail Roux for taking us on this fun journey!

  9. There aren’t words to describe how much I’m going to miss this series. But this was a good end, if it had to end.

  10. So sad to see these boys go, but at least their story had a great ending. I’m very much looking forward to whatever Abi comes up with next.

  11. What I really appreciated in this series was character developement and how every single one of characters had multiple dimensions – no cardboard willains, no perfect heroes. I think that’s the reason why these series have such fiercly loyal minions, myself included. 🙂

  12. “I am a part of everything that I have read. ~Theodore Roosevelt.
I am beyond thrilled to have been a part of each and every book in the Cut and Run Series, part of Ty and Zane’s roller coaster journey. I am heartbroken that we are finally to the end of their ride yet so very happy to have been right there with them.

  13. One of my favorites series and I was so not ready for it to end.
I loved the ending with all my heart but I’m so sad. Glad we still have Nick & Kelly’s books.

  14. I need to reread this book, now that I’ve let it settle. So much good. I just don’t know if I can handle the feels again this soon.

  15. I’ve fallen in love with Ty and Zane. I’m so excited to read this final installment. Unfortunately I’m still playing catch up with the series as I was late to the game. But it’s been an incredible journey, that’s for sure!

  16. I was late coming to this series but I’m so glad I read it. Still undergoing some emotional devastation as I try to deal with it really being over.

  17. I zipped throught book so quicky, that I now need to do a re-read so that I can pick up on the things I missed. So sad to see the end of the series but this action-packed book is a fitting conclusion to Ty & Zane’s story.

  18. I can not imagine the stress and pressure leading up to the release of this book … particularly after having witnessed some relatively recent negativity related to the ending of other long running and much loved series in the press.

I am so glad to read all of these reviews and comments and see that I was not alone in feeling like this final book was a huge success deserving of Kudo’s to the author!

  19. Loved crash & burn never wanted it to end, ty and zane are two of my favourite characters out of books, hope we see more of them in the sidewinder books 🙂

  20. I was so sad to see the series end,but the way it went out, I couldn’t have been happier. It was so fitting for the two of them and I loved the final ride.

  21. I’ve spent the better part of March in a state of anxiety over this book. I’m glad I’m finally able to read it, even though I have to say goodbye to Ty and Zane.

  22. Haven’t been able to bring myself to read the last book yet. Until I do, I can trick myself into believing it’s not over yet!

  23. I love Ty and Zane. I’m re-reading the whole series, but I’m really terrified to get to the last book. I don’t think I’m ready for goodbye yet…

  24. I’ve been looking forward to this final book in the Cut & Run series with excitement and dismay–as eager as I’ve been to discover how Ty and Zane’s story finally turned out, I’ve also dreaded saying goodbye. I enjoyed Crash & Burn more than I ever expected to (I may have read it twice already, haha) and this book and ending felt satisfying, well balanced, and just *right.* I’ll miss those boys so much!

  25. Cut & Run is one of my all time favorite M/M series. Ty & Zane will always be close to my heart. Even though I am so sad to see them go, I think Crash & Burn was the perfect send off for them. 🙂

  26. Oh, there was a different deadline? Nevermind, let me weigh in and lend my voice to the huge shout going up in praise and thanks for this book – and the entire series. Starting such a long series was daunting, and I wondered how so many pages were going to be filled, but waiting for the final book… well, I didn’t want it to end. I’m so grateful we have so many fantastic books in this series, and that it ended so well.

  27. The Cut & Run series is and always will be not just my favorite M/M series, but my favorite book series of all time. i will miss the torturous feeling of waiting for the next book to come out. and i will miss our boys.

  28. This series will always have a huge place in my heart. They’re some of my favourite books and I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of going back to read them again.

  29. I LOVED this book & the ENTIRE series … I’m going to miss Ty & Zane. And the rest, for that matter. Bravo, Abi Roux for bringing life to these characters …I’ve fallen head over heels and don’t really know what else to say.
