Synopsis

Five days. Fifty square feet. One last shot at love.

Cash Rowland first laid eyes on the tenacious and irresistible Piper Sullivan when they were both seventeen. He falls for her hard and just when he thinks she’s doing the same, Piper is torn from his life without warning. She leaves no contact information but only a vague promise of fate.

Five years later, their paths unexpectedly cross. When he shows up with his eighteen-wheeler unannounced, Cash persuades Piper to head out on the open road to give him one last shot at love. But what should be a routine delivery across six states suddenly becomes an unforgettable journey when they save a woman with a broken past and discover that second chances are only for the lucky ones.

Review

5-stars

When Cash Rowland first laid eyes on Piper he knew he was in a world of trouble. He was hers – simple as that. Of course, he was just a seventeen year old and he never met the girl, but whatever. He knew she was it for him.

I loved, LOVED this story. Let me count the ways!

1. Cash Rowland

If there ever was a voice I’ve enjoyed reading it was his. He was adorable and funny as hell. I loved not only his humor but his loyalty and tender ways. I loved that this story was told from his point of view, I don’t think I would have loved it as much if it weren’t. It fit the story.

2. The Romance

Who doesn’t remember their first love? Who doesn’t enjoy a ‘second chance at love’ story? This one had it both and it was fantastic.

3. The Story

Sweet, with a dash of intense emotions, Cash and Piper’s journey of love had all the elements I’ve come to expect in a great romantic story. Plenty of ‘Aww’ inducing moments, characters that complemented each other and felt real throughout, appropriate emotions that captured each character’s frame of mind and chemistry that although tamed in the page still shined through.

I loved how the author went about bringing them together. Their adventure as they traveled in Cash’s truck was entertaining and enlightening. There were elements of the story that surprised me, but complimented it and made it sweeter. The characters’ emotions jumped off the page and their personalities never wavered. They grew as individuals as the story progressed, but it was their growth as a couple and how their connection strengthened that made this such a fantastic read for me.

If you like your stories sweet with a dash of humor and adventure I say that you pick this book right now. It had that and much more. This is one story that will go on my ‘favorites’ shelf for those times when I need a little pick me up. It was that good!

All in all, a fantastic read with emotional undertones, characters you will come to love and romance abound.

Excerpt

I pull the blanket over us and wrap my arms around her. She huddles into me for a moment, burying her face into my chest before I lift up her chin. We kiss then, and I start slow, tasting her with every flick of my tongue and press of my lips. She pushes faster, more frantic against my lips as her hands explore my chest and move down onto my waistband.

I let out a groan of pleasure and move my own hands to the straps of her bra. I slide my fingers beneath the thin fabric, pulling them down until they’re hanging by her arms. My fingertips play across the edge of her bra before she breaks from me to whisper.

“Take it off.”

Again, I obey with full enthusiasm.

The wet bra unhooks, and I pull it away from her, throwing it aside. She lets out a soft whimper as I explore her breasts, trailing kisses across her skin. Her body is starting to warm beneath my kisses, and all I want to do is keep tasting her. I run my tongue along her hard nipples as she slips her fingers beneath my boxer briefs, and a wave of arousal floods through my body.

I didn’t know I could want someone this bad.

My fingers trace down her belly until they find the lace of her underwear, and I’m in them now, feeling every part of her.

“Cash,” she whispers with her eyes closed as her hips push into me. She begs, “Please. I want you. I’ve wanted this for so long.”

“Me, too. You have no idea,” I whisper as she climbs on top of me. She reaches down to the floor of the truck and pops back up with the cowboy hat from Wildhorse Saloon. She sets it on top of her head.

She is so incredibly hot, and it’s taking all of my self-control to keep my composure.

“Yee-haw,” she whispers as she pulls my underwear down to my mid-thighs. I slide her underwear to the side and let her guide me in. She rocks against me, moving her hips in a slow, rhythmic motion that sends shivers through my body. She throws her head back, letting her hair fall to the middle of her back. I run my fingers through it, feeling the strands before I tug at her underwear and pull her closer to me. She moans.

God, does she moan.

Synopsis

There comes a moment in everyone’s life when they must decide which road leads to personal happiness. For Dylan Silver, this is that moment…

For the past twenty-two-years, Dylan has been living in her parents’ carefully crafted world, always putting her own dreams on hold to play the role of a dutiful daughter.

So when her best friend coaxes her into a winter getaway to a mountain cabin, she sees it as a chance to forget about the responsibilities waiting for her at home. At least for a little while.

But then her past catches up to her—in the form of sexy snowboarder, Sawyer Carter.

Six years ago, Dylan bid goodbye to the only boy she ever truly loved. Now he’s standing right in front of her, bringing up bittersweet memories and igniting suppressed desires as he dares her to be the person she has always wanted to be.

Dylan and Sawyer’s unexpected meeting is a second chance, but will a girl who doesn’t believe in fate and taking risks be able to overcome her fears of losing control and finally embrace the life she desperately wants?

Only one thing is certain: after a week in Whistler, Dylan’s world will never be the same.

Review

4 stars

Dylan is following her life plan, or that of her parents. She’s still undecided on that one. But what she is completely sure about is that she never forgot about the one who got away. Her best friend through childhood and the boy she fell in love way back when. So when she encounters him again, she is both elated and scared. Happy because he’s still the boy she fell in love with even with his slight hard edges and scared of the feelings he brings out on her.

I loved this story. Victoria Green did an amazing job of bringing Dylan and Sawyer’s story to the page. I enjoyed getting to know Dylan, her quirks, fears and ambitions. She was determined to do what was right, but still wanted to be true to who she was. Her conflicting emotions felt real and made it easy for me to connect to her. I loved watching her with Sawyer, her true self came out to play and seeing them together made for an enjoyable read.

Of course they had chemistry, but it was the emotional interactions, those tender moments when they were getting to know each other again that truly did it for me. I loved their banter and the bond they had between them. I appreciated how the author went out of her way to show the reader how deep the bond between Dylan and Sawyer was and I loved watching as it grew and strengthened while the story progressed.

This was not an overtly emotional read, but the emotions were there and they were heartfelt and appropriate. I especially enjoyed the humor and conflicting emotions the secondary characters added to the story. Dylan’s interactions with her best friend showed her witty, charming and loyal side while her interactions with her brother and family showed the conflicted feelings of a woman trying to break free and be herself.

All in all, a wonderful ‘second chance’ love story about embracing your true self and making your own way in an uncertain world with the one person you are most connected to.

Synopsis

Refuse to compromise.

Hudson Winters is in control of every aspect of his world. From his earliest memories, he’s been driven to succeed. Starting from nothing, he built an empire based on opportunity and intimidation.

Personally, professionally, and sexually – he ensures the reins are always in his hands.

He never counted on a woman like Gabriella Hernandez.

From the moment she steps into his building, she proceeds to shake up his entire existence. Her very presence causes him to question everything about himself, his relationships, and his future.

NOTE: This story contains explicit sexual scenes and language and is intended for mature audiences only. Do not read this novel if intense sexual situations offend you.

Review

3-stars

Gabriella decides to leave everything she has ever known to go to New York to be with Hudson Winters, the man she’s had a long-distance relationship with. Unfortunately, when she gets there not only is her ‘Hudson’ nowhere to be found, but the real Hudson Winters is as rude and exasperating as he is sexy. Add to that the fact that she’s now homeless and broke and Gabriella is definitely not having the best day of her life.

Hudson Winters doesn’t care for much except for his best friend, his mother and his job. He is arrogant, selfish and sexy as hell. He likes his sex kinky and has no time to waste on Gabriella. Except, she pushes all his buttons and he’s intrigued by her. Confused by this attraction to the innocent-looking girl and conflicted about his needs and who is the right person to fulfill them, Hudson embarks in his pursuit of Gabriella only to realize that what he was looking for was right in front of him all along.

Okay. So here we are.

First, I have to tell you that I’m a bit conflicted about this story. This is more a story about Gabriella discovering herself and although I enjoyed that part of the story immensely I can’t help but be disappointed by the outcome of the story. I loved Gabriella and I loved Hudson. I thought they had chemistry and complemented each other nicely. But Natalia? Not so much.

I enjoyed the way Shayne McClendon went about telling Gabriella’s story. It was one filled with new discoveries, adventures and heartache. I loved that she was conflicted about her feelings on what her attraction to Hudson led her to, it went with her character and personality. I liked watching how the experience allowed her to grow as a person and how it strengthened her resolve to be true to herself. Like I said, she was a great character to get to know and her journey in this story made for an interesting to read.

I can’t say much about what goes on without giving too much away, but I will say this. The story was packed full of emotions from all characters involved and the sex scenes were off-the-charts HOT. I enjoyed seeing Hudson so conflicted and frustrated. His growth as a character and his revelation and acceptance of his future was bittersweet for me, only because I came to care for him a great deal.

All in all, a hot, little read about discovering your true self, letting go of what’s holding you back and accepting what the future holds.

What’s your hero’s idea of the perfect romantic evening?

Jodi Ellen Malpas: Jesse would bless Ava with the wide range of his degrees in fucking. Then he’d lick peanut butter off of her. Or make an Ava Éclair. Then they’d have a bath and tub-talk.

Cecilia Tan: James’s perfect romantic evening involves stimulation of the intellect, the senses, and the heart–possibly all at once. The thing he loves about BDSM is that it isn’t “mindless” sex. You don’t just hop in bed and “bang.” You have to be engaged in BDSM with your whole being, your emotions, your thoughts, and your physical self. When he puts someone in bondage he’s inviting them into a complex dance of power and aesthetics and sensuality that will bring both partners a deep sense of satisfaction. Of course, as anyone who has read Slow Surrender will tell you, he’s also very into delayed gratification, which leaves plenty of time for heart to heart talks.

C.C. Gibbs: With Dominic, the word “romantic” is a stretch. He’d have to process that through his pragmatic filter. But he knows how to please a woman. So specifically with Kate, he’d offer her what she liked. A quiet evening at home, chocolate truffles—hand fed between kisses, as many orgasms as she wanted and afterward, when she was sprawled atop him, warm and sated, he’d smile and say, “Now ask me anything,” because she liked when he talked about his life. And he was willing to do that for her.

Kate McKinley: A quiet evening at home, preferably between the sheets. He is a man, after all! lol

Review

5-stars

Very sad to say goodbye to Jesse, but what a way to go!

So I found myself at The Manor attending Jesse’s and Ava’s wedding. And what a spectacle that was! Typical Jesse and Ava. That’s all I will say.

And that was just the wedding. The honeymoon and everything that comes after it was even better.

Happiness. Anger. Sex. Surprises.

Tears. Sex. Betrayal. Secrets.

Sex. Confessions. Confrontations. Sex.

Love. One hell of perfect EPILOGUE.

I wish I could tell you more about what went on, but I wouldn’t have wanted to know before reading the book, so I won’t share.

Synopsis

As a master in her field, talented Kate surpassed Dominic’s wildest expectations. As a woman of uncommon intelligence and beauty, she unlocked something deep within him. Yet since their professional relationship–and erotically charged affair–came to an end, the fire in him has only grown stronger.

Now, the man who has everything will do whatever it takes to reclaim the woman he lost. From Boston and Paris to Singapore and San Francisco, he will lure Kate back into his elite world of privilege and passion. Together, they will test the limits of desire and the boundaries of discipline. For both, this is uncharted territory–naked, reckless, and uninhibited. But when Dominic’s deadliest enemies target Kate, he must face his darkest fears…and admit to himself that she is all he needs.

Review

4 stars

Once again, C.C. Gibbs delivers another awesome chapter in Dominic and Kate’s tumultuous love affair.

The story picks up right where the previous installment ended and we find Dominic and Kate trying to move on with their lives after the events that took place in All He Wants .

Dominic is a mess but very much keeping an eye out for Kate. He doesn’t sleep nor eats and passes his nights drinking and staring at a photo of Kate for company. Women don’t interest him and his mood is driving everyone crazy.

Kate is trying to move on and when an offer for another job lands in her hands she appreciates the distraction it will bring from her days passing the time crying and cursing Dominic.

Each of them are going through the motions but not really living or moving on, until a threat to Kate’s safety puts Dominic in Kate’s path again. Although hesitant to start something again with Dominic, Kate is no fool. She knows that her suffering was endless when he wasn’t around and just his presence calms her, so she gives in and decides to try again.

All in all, All He Needs was a wonderful addition to the All or Nothing trilogy and was infused with emotions, sensuality and love abound. I loved it and can’t wait for the next installment to see if these two will actually have their happily after and what they must endure to get it.

Review

3-5 stars3.5 stars

This installment picks up a couple of months after Slow Surrender left off with Karina moving to London not only to start a new job in a museum but also in search of James, who left her after Karina forced him to reveal his name.

This book was not what I expected at all, but still a great follow-up book nonetheless.

This story centers around Karina’s journey in finding James, the man who captured her heart and encouraged her to explore her sensual side. After all the experiences she shared with James, she can’t keep him out of her mind. She’s determined to find him and not even meeting Damon and his sexy ways detracts her from her mission. This story is all about her development as a characters where she explores her new-found kinks and lets herself accept herself for who she is.

She meets a lot of people along the way that enrich her experience one way or another and who get her closer to her goal of finding James.

I enjoyed how the story unfolded, the characters that were introduced and the growth Karina underwent in the process. There were some new discoveries and some interesting twists to the story that added to my interest in seeing this trilogy through to the end.

Of course, I can’t deny that I wished I could have experienced some more of James in this installment. I think that Karina and James are great together and they complement each other. Although he did make and appearance and some of the issues were dealt with, there were to many what-ifs and a whole new revelation was brought into play. I missed experiencing their connection on the page and seeing them unleash the passion they held for one another. That one scene was great, but it wasn’t enough for me after I had invested myself in their relationship in the previous installment.

However, I still believe that this was a great addition to the Struck by Lightning series. I’m looking forward to next installment to see if the author brings the range in emotions she brought forth in Slow Surrender and I’m expecting that the degree of anticipation and excitement that she left me with with Slow Seduction is worth the wait.

Review

4 stars

Wow! This story had a little of everything and some that I could’ve done without.

Rowdy and Skylar were first loves when they were teenagers until Skylar disappeared without a word at a time when Rowdy needed her the most. When Skylar returns home she knows that things can’t be picked up from where they were left up, but she had never imagined that her sweet Rowdy would transform into a cold, man-slut. Of course, it is all a front and the walls Rowdy has kept in place start to crumble as soon as he lays eyes on Skylar again.

So yes, there’s angst and drama between Skylar and Rowdy but they soon come to an understanding to try to mend what was broken between them – mainly trust. Their connection was already established but the author made sure to strengthen it as the story progressed. Needless to say that their chemistry was HOT! That first kiss alone after so many years apart was something else.

But in comes Anna and boy is that chick crazy! She’s determined to keep them apart and make Rowdy’s hers.

And here is where my only problem lies. Even though some of the events that transpire where Anna’s concerned were interesting and kept me guessing, some of them were too over-the-top for me to get into. I understood that the girl had problems, but it was too much.

That said, I thought that Rowdy and Skylar’s second chance at love story was fantastic. Their lives were not easy and the things they had to face truly showed their characters as both individuals and as a couple.

All in all, a sweet, romantic story about true love and overcoming the obstacles thrown at you so you can start living your happily ever after.

After being promoted to President of her uncle’s record label, Sabrina needs an assistant ASAP. In comes Wade. A resourceful, smart and handsome man, Wade ignites in Sabrina feelings she never experienced before. Although she has been in a ‘relationship’ with Beau, she knows that nothing is going to come from it other than to keep living on past expectations and desires.

Neither of them pursue each other straight out, but Wade and Sabrina’s attraction to each other gets the best of them. Wade gets Sabrina in every way – emotionally and physically. Something no one has ever done for Sabrina before.

Although Beau is in the background actively reaching for Sabrina for one more hook-up and Sabrina is torn between what she’s used to and starting something new with Wade, I wouldn’t say this was a love triangle type of situation. I didn’t believe Sabrina had any deep feelings for Beau, I think she was just used to the familiarity of what they shared. Her conflicted feelings stemmed mainly from her insecurities and her fear of giving of herself to Wade.

This was a fun story to read. Although it would involve more of a music scene, I was pleasantly surprised by the content of the story regardless. It was cute and cheesy and everything in between with interesting characters (including Beau which I’m still intrigued by!), little angst and great chemistry.

His ears perked at the sound of clicking high heels coming down the hall and it wasn’t too long before she was in view. Wade wanted to breathe normally, he really did, but it was impossible looking at her. Her strut was enough to give him a stroke. She had a perfect hourglass shape and she wore the right clothes for it. Her curves were like the deliberate paint strokes of an artist. Beautiful. Her gentle brunette waves of hair gleamed auburn under lights and seemed to bounce with her steps just as her ample chest did. When she saw him at the desk a smile overtook her heart-shaped face. Her lips could’ve been drawn by Disney they were so damn perfect. And the sweetest smattering of freckles across her nose and cheeks was enough to do him in. She’s your boss, he told himself.

He’d been telling himself that since the minute he walked into the interview on Friday. He spent the weekend psyching himself up for seeing her again. She’s just pretty, he’d said to the bathroom mirror, you’ve known plenty of pretty women. But she wasn’t just pretty. She wasn’t just anything. She was stunning. And not to mention … she was Sabra.

“Good morning!” Sabrina said cheerily as she came up to the front of his desk. She had two paper cups in her hands and she sat one in front of him. “I didn’t know your drink order so I just got you what I like—Americano.”

He opened his mouth but no words came out. He touched the warm cup and smiled. “Shouldn’t I be the one getting you coffee?” he asked.

“Eh, someday.” She smiled before popping into her office.

Someday, he thought.

Synopsis
She’s mine.

That was my first thought when I held my baby in my arms at seventeen. I didn’t care that I’d already promised to give her to a wealthy family.

She is mine.

I ran away from that hospital, from that family, from the very life I knew. My plan was to start my life over with what little money I (have/had?), determined to make something of myself despite the odds.

Then Logan Tate entered my life.

Gorgeous and controlling, he claimed he was trying to help me, and that he didn’t care that I was another teenage pregnancy story.

But I don’t trust him. I don’t trust anyone. And if Logan knew the real secrets and lies I was keeping inside, he wouldn’t dare try to shelter me.

Review

4 stars

Mia is determined to make a life with her daughter away from her controlling family. She was not counting of running into a handsome, caring cop who awakens in her feelings the likes she never experienced before.

Logan is intrigued by the young woman he met and by her situation. Never one to back down, he tries to protect her and in doing so he becomes invested in her and her daughter’s well being. He’s not planning on letting her go anytime soon, so she better get used to him and his ways.

This was a sweet story with an excellent mix of drama, mystery and romance.

At first, I was hesitant about how the story would play out especially since Mia was so young. But within a couple of pages she convinced me that I had pegged her all wrong. She showed her resilience and her strong character. Her maturity shined through while she made a home for herself and her daughter. She was vulnearble, caring and scared, but she was also feisty, determined and stubborn. It made for some interesting moments when she went head to head with Logan.

Logan was also caring and understanding, but he had a stubborness to him that bordered on controlling. However, he was always honest and had Mia and Lily’s best interest at heart. He came to care about them both and although she pushed all his buttons he never failed to give her the strength she needed or the space to make her own decisions.

This is the first book by Alice Montalvo-Tribue that I have read and it won’t be my last. She managed to keep me riveted to the story. I admit that there were times when the pace of the story dragged a bit but just when I was getting ready to skim some passages she managed to bring some interesting fact, revelation or scene into play until I was all in and determined to stick it out.

I loved Logan and Mia together. Although there was an age difference between them, I didn’t see it affect their relationship. They treated each other accordingly, always sharing honestly their intentions, emotions or doubts. I liked that their relationship wasn’t wrapped up prettily even though their connection was established early on. I enjoyed watching how with each moment shared their connection developed and grew in strength. It was slow in coming, but when they did get together it felt natural. They matched in their attraction for each other, but it was the emotions that came into play that made it all the more worthwhile.

The concept behind the story was interesting and well played out. At times it was frustrating for me to not know what the hell was haunting Lily, but the author played her cards right and when it was revealed it had the impact it was intended to have. I enjoyed how she brought it all together, letting the bit and pieces fall into place slowly, ratcheting my curiosity with every page I turned.

All in all, a sweet, romantic story about letting go of the past, acceptance and moving on.

Excerpt

I look up at her with tears in my eyes. If not for this kind woman, I’d be handing Lily over to her adoptive parents in a matter of hours. It may seem cruel of me to have promised to give my baby away to a couple who desperately wants one and then to just pick up and run away, but none of this was my choice.

Four months before my high school graduation I found out that I was pregnant, as you could probably imagine for a seventeen year old to hear that she’s going to become a mother is shocking and scary. So I did what I thought would be the right thing, I went to my parents and asked for there help. Their solution? Hide my pregnancy until after graduation and then keep me a virtual prisoner in my own home until I gave birth.

When I expressed to them my desire to keep my child they gave me an ultimatum, give the baby up for adoption, or keep the baby but leave their house with absolutely no financial help from them. What else could I have done? I had no choice but to agree to their demands and I thought I could do it. I thought I could go through with it until I held her, my Lily, and I knew that giving her away would literally kill me—would make it difficult to go on with the knowledge that she was out there in the world somewhere, living a life apart from mine. Because of this, I made her a promise and I’ll die before I break that promise.

Synopsis

A biker. A tattoo artist. A love to last a lifetime.

Maddox Cross has always had to be tough. When his father went to jail for murder, the teenager took care of his sister and mother. Now on his own and working security at a night club, Maddox wants to become a tattoo artist-a dream that comes closer to reality when he falls for the hottest, most tatted woman he’s ever seen. She’s wild and beautiful, and Maddox will do anything to be with her.

Bee Malone came to town to open up her new tattoo parlor, Masquerade. Since being kidnapped as a young girl, Bee has had trouble getting close to anyone. But when she meets Maddox, she sees that under his hard biker’s body is the sensitive soul of an artist. What starts out as a sizzling one-night stand soon becomes so much more.

Bee wants Maddox to join her tattoo business, but letting him into her life means revealing all her most intimate secrets. And as the past begins to intertwine with her present, Bee fears their love may not be as permanent as their ink . . .

Review

5-stars

Maddox has always been taking care of the ones he loves, but his guilt for the one time he didn’t speak up has hunted him for years. He feels unworthy and like a failure, so he keeps to himself, making no commitments and keeping people from seeing who he really is. So when he meets Bee his rapport with her is no different since he doesn’t expect to see her ever again.

For the past few years Bee has been struggling about who she is and about what her family expects her to be. She knows what she wants and how to go about it, but she’s still conflicted by that one aspect of her life. Not one to let people get close to her, she sees in Maddox something that calls to her and although she wants to keep her distance, their chemistry is too strong to be denied.

Loved. L-O-V-E-D this story.

Out of all the books in this series, I have to say that Masquerade is so far the edgiest and most emotional of them all. I loved Maddox. He tried so hard to do the right thing and feels so conflicted about his actions when his family came apart. He feels guilty for Adrian, for his sister and his mother. He carried such a heavy burden on his shoulders that I just wanted to smack some sense into him and keep him from feeling worse.

Like Maddox, Bee’s problems were taking its toll on her. But in a sense she was stronger and more determined to stick to her guns. I loved how the author went about bringing these two together. It was great to see how Bee recognized some aspects of herself in Maddox and how drawn they were to each other.

Was there chemistry? Hell yeah! But there was so much more to their connection than lust. Slowly but surely they came to rely on each other. Their interactions grew from cold and withdrawn to something more meaningful where you could glimpse their vulnerability and their need to connect to someone else. Neither one of them was looking for love, but they got smack with it nonetheless. Through flirtatious banter, honest exchanges, looks and touches Maddox and Bee’s connection grew into something palpable that could not be stopped.

Masquerade is the second book in the Games series and although it can be read as a stand alone I recommend reading Facade first so you can get the whole story behind what has Maddox so conflicted. Plus it was a great story and a 5 star read for me.

All in all, an amazing story of letting go, fighting your demons and opening up to what the future holds.

Excerpt

“Did you bring any drawings?” Bee sits at the chair behind a desk.

I hand her a book, but the second I do, I want to snatch it back. It’s always like that showing someone my work, even though I know it’s good. “That’s just one I had with me. I have more at home.”

She doesn’t answer as she starts flipping through the pages. After a couple minutes of watching her study each page, I start to get jittery. Feel like she’s looking inside me instead of at some pages, so to distract myself, I move around the room, taking in pictures of her work and other tattoos on the walls.

She looks at the book for what seems like an hour before speaking. “These are good. They’re different. Your artwork has a unique style that I haven’t seen before.”

I nod.

“Why do you want to be a tattoo artist?” she asks. The question shows me how serious she is about what she does because no one has brought it up before.

The urge to tell her it’s none of her business surges through me, but I want this badly enough to answer. “Because when I’m around it, I feel more like myself than I probably ever have.”

A brief flash of shock shows on her face, but she covers it quickly. “Good. I won’t screw around with someone who’s playing a game. This isn’t something you do to make a quick buck. Not if you’re working with me, at least. Did you get a chance to actually give anyone ink?”

“No. The apprenticeship only lasted three months before he bailed.”

Bee nods. “That’s good. I actually rather you have hardly any experience—that way I don’t have to train bad habits out of you.”

“I’m not a dog.”

“No one said you were. Chill out, Scratch.”

I tense at the name, but before I can really say anything, she starts asking questions again. “Do you lean toward liking only black work or are you into color too?”

Everything I have so far is only black, but as I look at her again, I see a variety of black and colorful work. “Depends. I don’t want to do only one or the other. I love work with shading too. I’ve seen some pieces that are really incredible just because of the shading.”

She nods and I wonder if that was the right answer.

“I’m not saying you don’t, but this is something you have to take seriously. There are a lot of dumb-asses out there who think it’s all fun, but it’s not. Stuff like being clean and safe is even more important than the picture you put into someone’s skin.”

“That’s a given, isn’t it?”

She grins. “You’d think, but it’s not always like that.”

We’re both quiet after that. Bee glances down at my artwork again. “I’m surprised I even let you in here tonight. It’s important that you know that. I don’t take shit from people.”

One look at her and that’s obvious. Part of me didn’t expect her to open the door for me either. “I’m surprised I came, so that makes two of us.” When she looks up at me, I’m not sure how I feel about the way her eyes take me in. Don’t know what I think about the fact that we have shit in common or that her look is familiar to me. I give it myself.

Bee stands, walks around to the front of the desk, and then leans on it. “If we do this, can we keep things from getting awkward?”

My answer comes automatically. “I can if you can. It was one night. We don’t know each other and I’m never with someone more than once anyway.” I’ve shared this strange sort of honesty with her tonight that makes my body overheat. I want all the words back because they’re a part of me and I don’t want anyone to see who I am, but this is it. Saying these things to her is the only way to get what I want.

“Now that you’ve asked your questions and realize this isn’t a game to me, I need to know if we’re doing this or not.”

Silently she walks toward the door and opens it. I hold in the groan, pissed at myself for fucking this up again and even more pissed that she’s in control.

Bee turns toward me, her blond hair messy from sleep, but it’s another thing she doesn’t care about. It doesn’t take away from how sexy she is either.

“We’re doing this. Don’t make me regret it. Now I need to get some sleep and then we’ll talk tomorrow about a schedule.”

I let out the breath trapped in my lungs. Thanks, echoes through my mind, but all that comes out is, “Cool. We’ll talk later.” Then I walk out the door.

Instead of going home, I head to the high school. It’s such a dumb fucking thing to do, but like I’ve done other nights, I jump the fence and head to the football field. Sitting in the middle of it, I let my eyes trace over the whole thing, trying to remember the time this used to be important to me. And trying not to concentrate on the fact that even though I got something I want, something I need, I still want to take out the fucking world because of everything I’ve lost.

Synopsis

Luke Price’s life has always been about order, control, and acting tough on the outside. For Luke, meaningless relationships are a distraction-a way to tune out the twisted memories of his childhood. He desperately wishes he could forget his past, but it haunts him no matter what he does.

Violet Hayes has had a rough life. When she was young, she was left with no family and the memory of her parents’ unsolved murders. She grew up in foster homes, living with irresponsible parents, drugs, and neglect, and trying to fight the painful memories of the night her parents were taken from her. But it’s hard to forget when she never got closure-and she can’t stop dreaming about what happened that tragic night. To make it through life, she keeps her distance from everyone and never allows herself to feel anything.

Then Violet meets Luke. The two clash instantly, yet they can’t seem to stay away from each other. Although they fight it, they both start to open up and feel things they’ve never felt before. They discover just how similar they are. But they also discover something else: The past always catches up with you . . .

Review

5-stars

Luke just wants to leave his past behind the only way he knows how – through booze and sex. Although that has worked since he was 16 years old, he feels that his walls are closing in on him when he finds himself with nowhere to go but back home for the summer with his mother. Luke never paid attention to Violet before. But in a move that surprises even himself, Luke finds himself spending time with her after she runs into him at a party. Even more surprising to Luke is the fact that he’s drawn to Violet. She’s always on his mind bringing along the very emotions he doesn’t want to feel for someone else, let alone a woman.

Violet has always kept to herself. She doesn’t depend on anybody and believes that people don’t care about anyone but themselves. She’s detached and unemotional. So when she finds that Luke is awakening feelings in her she never once thought she would feel, she’s determined to keep in at bay.

Thrown together by circumstances out of their control, they find themselves fighting the emotions they bring out on each other. But Fate can be a sneaky game-changer and just as they find a balance between friendship and something more, their world is turned on its axis.

Loved, loved, LOVED this story! And if you like stories where you feel invested in the main characters’ emotional welfare this is the book for you too.

Keep in mind that although this is the third book in The Coincidence series, it can be read as a stand alone so don’t miss out on reading it if you haven’t read the previous ones.

Excerpt

“Maybe you should go get cleaned up first.” She runs her thumb down the side of my lip and the connection sends uninvited emotions coursing through my body. I have to clench my hands into fists, just to keep myself from grabbing her and crashing her lips against mine. She withdraws her hand and wipes her thumb and her finger together. “You have blood on your face and clothes.”

I shrug, smothering the desire to jerk her hand back to me, rip her clothes off and bend her over the hood out of my truck. “I’m fine with looking like a man who just beat the shit out of someone, but if you’re too embarrassed to be seen with me, you can sit in the truck.”

“ ‘A man who just beat the shit out of someone’?” she muses, stopping at the passenger door of my truck, her hand hovering above the handle of the car door. “Or a guy who just got his ass kicked?”

I can’t tell if she’s toying with me or not, but it’s both irritating me and exciting me in ways I didn’t know were possible. Half the damn time I have no fucking clue whether she’s being serious or not. Being a control freak, this should send me running, yet it’s having the opposite effect when it comes to her.

I decide to give her a taste of her own intense medicine, throw her off a little, regain the upper hand and hopefully scare her away. “Are you saying that I’m not tough?” I position myself in front of her, trying to get her to back up into the truck, but she stays still. “Or that I’m not a man?”

“I’m not saying either,” she says with a fervent look in her eyes that nearly sends me soaring through the roof. The more intense I get the more excited she gets, which makes me want to get even more intense. “Although, I’m guessing that despite that fact, you’re still about to show me that you’re both of those things.”

“Is that what you want me to do?” My voice comes out husky. This isn’t working out how I want, my plan of keeping her away backfiring on me. I take a step forward and then another, until I’m pretty much stepping on her feet. She still doesn’t back up and it frustrates me even more. “For me to show you how tough I am or how much of a man I am?”

She presses her lips together, her gaze unwavering, eyelashes fluttering. “I don’t want anything from you, Luke. I’m just simply saying what’s in my head. And the longer you’re around me, the more you’ll realize this.”

The longer I’m around her? Fuck. I reach a hand around the side of her and grab the door handle of the truck. “So you don’t think I’m tough?” I ask.

“I think you want to show me how tough you are and how much of a man you can be,” she says.

I put my other arm on the other side of her, so she’s pinned between my arms. Most girls in this position would back up into the door, but she stands firm, refusing to let me control her like I desperately want to.

“And how would I show you?” I drop my voice to a husky growl, intentionally this time.

“I’m sure you have your ways,” she replies, her gaze flickering at my mouth as I lean forward and our bodies press together.

It takes every ounce of strength not to seize hold of her hips and gently shove her back. Instead, I lean farther in, our lips inching closer. “I do have my ways…” I lick my lips and feel the sting of the cut. It reminds me of everything I just

witnessed; with her, with me. I know if I kiss her it’ll more than likely lead to me jerking the door open and throwing her down on the truck seat, right here in broad daylight. I wouldn’t care who saw us. I never do. I’d just want to get this God damn need to regain control out of me, the need she’s putting in me. But then what would happen after it was all over? Would we go get tacos and come back to my dorm and hang out? Yeah, that doesn’t seem at all possible, but neither does screwing her and then bailing. I’m too far into her and I’m not sure how to get away or if I can get away at this point.

I clench my hands into fists as I fight the urge to shut my eyes and kiss her until she can barely breathe. I feel weak the moment I flip up that handle and start to pull the door open because I’m choosing to feel the vile, pathetic feelings of my past—how I did things I didn’t want to do, how my mother messed with my head, how I had no control over my life. I was a puppet. I was weak. I don’t want to be that person ever again.

I wait for Violet to move out of the way so I can get the door open, but she doesn’t budge and I’m the one who ends up stepping back, losing again. It’s an unsettling place I’ve arrived at and I don’t know what to do with it beside drink myself into a stupor and hammer my fist through anything that gets in my way. My body is actually shaking as my mind craves the burning, blissful taste of alcohol.

“So where are we going to get tacos?” She sidesteps around me and hops in the truck, tucking her skirt in as she brings her legs into the truck.

“You pick,” I say as I shut the door.

She smiles a plain, fake smile, not even giving me the benefit of a real one. “It doesn’t matter to me,” she says as I climb into the cab. Then she kicks her feet up on the dash and flops her head back against the seat, looking as calm as can be.

I have to wonder if she really means it. If nothing matters to her, and if she’s beginning to matter to me.

When I made my way back to the top, I found Bray wasn’t sitting near the edge of the ridge where I had left her I moved farther out into the clearing with our blankets draped over one shoulder.

“Bray?” I said, looking around.

I brushed it off for a second, thinking she was probably just taking a piss behind a tree somewhere, and I set our blankets on the ground.

But then I got a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach.

I walked quickly toward the edge and looked over. My heart started to bang against my rib cage. I peered down as far as my sight could penetrate the darkness, but took a step back upon realizing that if she had fallen there was no way I’d be able to see from way up here.

She had to be somewhere around close by. She had to be.

“Bray?” I called out again. “Where the hell did you go?”

Still no answer.

Panic set in quickly. I stood there as still and as quiet as I could for several long seconds in case she was coming through the woods, but I heard nothing. I arranged both hands around my mouth and shouted, “BRAY!” and my voice echoed through the wide-open space. But still nothing. I felt sick to my stomach. She wouldn’t have left like that way out here. And if she did, I would’ve seen her on the path coming down as I was making my way back up.

I ran toward the tree line, searching for any sign of her, for another path she might have taken. I refused to believe that she had fallen off the edge.

Just as I noticed another path through the woods that seemed to head south and I started to go toward it, I heard footfalls in the leaves. I didn’t wait to see if it was her, I ran blindly

straight into the woods. A skinny branch slapped me across the forehead on my way, but I didn’t stop.

Bray and I nearly crashed into each other.

“Shit, baby! Where the hell did you go? Scared the hell out of me!” I started to pull her into a hug, but something about her was off and I stopped. She didn’t respond or even raise her head to look at me.

“Are you all right?”

I took her hands into mine. Hers were shaking. Her whole body was shaking.

I cupped her face in my palms and raised her head so that she’d look at me. She was crying, and something in her eyes…I couldn’t place it, but it haunted me. I wondered if she even knew I was standing right in front of her. Her hair was messy, with pieces of leaves stuck within a mass of strands. Dirt was smeared across her left cheek. She looked like she’d been in a fight.

I touched her split lip, where a thin line of blood glistened near the corner. “Bray, you’re scaring me. What happened to you?” I shook her gently and then more aggressively when she still didn’t respond. “What happened? Talk to me!”

Her lips trembled and more tears seeped from the corners of her eyes. And then as if a floodgate had been opened, she started screaming through her tears, “It was my fault! Elias! Oh my God!”

“What happened?” I roared, scared for her and for myself, my heart about to burst through my chest.

Review

3-stars

Paige is down on her luck recently. Having moved in with her parents to a small town in Florida, Paige is having trouble while she gets her life back together.

In comes Brendan to the rescue. Literally and figuratively too. Brendan is a fix-it kind of man and when he notices Paige struggling he decides to help her in a any way he can. They develop an easy friendship that eventually leads to more, overwhelming them both.

Undone was a good start in the Country Roads series regardless of some of the problems I encountered. All in all, a simple, feel-good romance.

Excerpt

When Brendan pulled into the shade of the park he saw Paige sitting on top of a picnic table. She was staring down at the screen of her camera, biting the corner of her lip. She looked up at the tree and then back down to her camera, shaking her head. Brendan pushed his sunglasses to the top of his head, grabbed his loot, and got out of his truck. When he slammed the door shut she looked over at him. She turned her camera off and shoved it into a bag that was on the table.

“Hey,” she said, standing up and brushing the back of her orange dress down before she started walked toward him.

“Hi,” he said, walking past her and sitting down on top of the picnic table.

“What are you doing?” she asked, spinning around and looking at him. “My Jeep’s over there.”

“Yes,” he said, grabbing a Coke and popping the top. “But lunch is over here.”

“I thought you were going to change my flat,” she said, frowning.

“I am, after I eat lunch. Care to join me?” he asked, patting the empty space next to him.

“You’re serious?”

“Paige, it’s almost one o’clock, so I’m going to eat. You can either stand there and watch me, or you can split this Cajun turkey sandwich that my grandmother made,” he said, taking the sandwich out of the bag.

She shook her head and smiled.

“You, Brendan King, are a whole mess of trouble,” she said, walking over to the bench and sitting down next to him.

“Good choice,” he said, taking his half out of the bag and handing her the other half. “What are you doing out here?” he asked, taking a bite of his sandwich.

“Taking pictures.”

“For?”

“The tribute program that Mr. Adams wants to start using during the memorial services. He wants to use local pictures instead of the stock pictures that are already in the program.”

“That sounds like it’s right up your alley.”

“It is actually,” she said, reaching for the other can of soda and popping the top.

“Don’t sound so surprised.”

“Why? That I could actually fit in around here? It does surprise me.”

“Why?”

“I’m not used to this whole small-town thing, where everybody knows everybody and their business.”

“Yeah, that’s one of the things about small towns that sucks,” he said, opening a bag of chips and holding it out for her.

“You can say that again,” she said, reaching for a chip. “Why don’t you have oil stains on your hands? I thought all mechanics had oil stains.”

“I wear gloves,” he said, grabbing a few chips for himself and popping them into his mouth.

“Right.” She glanced down and frowned, reaching out for his arm.

“The tree,” she whispered, grabbing his elbow and pushing up the sleeve of his shirt.

Her soft, delicate fingers lightly traced the lines of his tattoo. It took only one simple touch from her for him to completely lose his mind again.

“I knew I’d seen it somewhere.” She looked up to the oak tree in front of them and then back down to his arm. “Why do you have that tree tattooed on your arm?” she asked, looking up at him.

She must have seen the heated look in his eyes because she let go of him and started blushing.

“Sorry, I just … yesterday when I’d been looking at your tattoo, it just sort of fascinated me, and … and it’s that tree,” she said, pointing to the tree in front of them.

“It is.” He cleared his throat and finished his sandwich. He grabbed an orange from the bag on the table and started peeling it. “My mom loved that tree,” he said, looking up at it for a second. “She would bring me and Grace here all the time.”

“Loved?” Paige asked.

“She died,” he said, turning to look at her. “Twelve years ago from breast cancer.”

“Oh God, Brendan. I’m so sorry.”

“I am too. She was a great woman. Grams still can’t talk about her without losing it.”

“Wait, your mom was Lula Mae and Oliver’s daughter?” she asked, confused.

“Yeah,” he said, looking over at her. “I know a little bit about being the center of town talk too. My dad walked out on us before I was born, and Grace’s dad, well, no one knows who Grace’s dad is. My mom wouldn’t tell anybody. That was a source of gossip for years,” he said, handing her half of the peeled orange.

The orange was still cold from being in the refrigerator. Brendan stuck a slice in his mouth, the juice bursting across his tongue. Paige sat next to him in silence, eating her half.

“How do you do it?” she asked, looking at him.

“Do what?”

“Accept stuff like that? Move on? I lost my job, my apartment, and my boyfriend all within a span of two months and I thought that everything was falling down around me. But you? God, Brendan, you had a girlfriend run off with another man, your dad abandoned you, and your mom she …” Paige trailed off. She looked down at her empty hands shaking her head. “You make my problems look trivial.”

“Paige,” he said, edging closer to her and pressing his thigh against hers.

She looked at him, her hair falling in her eyes. He reached out and pushed it behind her ear, letting his fingers trail down to her chin.

“That stuff happened over a long span of time, and I’ve had years to deal with it. You had to deal with a lot over a very short amount of time, and it didn’t happen so long ago. It isn’t trivial,” he said, rubbing his thumb across her jaw. “One day, you’ll wake up and it won’t hurt as bad. You’ll be able to move on.”

“I think I had that breakthrough a week ago,” she whispered, her eyes dipping to his mouth before they came back up to his eyes.

“Really?” He smiled, moving in closer. “And what was the catalyst for that development?” he asked, moving his hand to the back of her head, his fingers tunneling in her hair.

“A cracked radiator,” she said, putting her palms on his chest.

He brought her mouth to his. She parted her lips and when his tongue touched hers he lost himself. She tasted like oranges, like the sweetest freaking oranges that he’d ever eaten. He wrapped his free arm around her back, pulling her into his chest as he slanted his mouth over hers, deepening the kiss. One of her hands was in his hair, her nails racking the back of his head.

Brendan pulled back and looked at her, both of them breathing hard. He was still holding her face in one of his hands as he ran his thumb across her lower lip.

“That was …” He couldn’t even find the words to describe exactly what it was.

“Yeah.” She looked at him, dazed as she fisted her hand tighter in his shirt and pulled him back to her. And then they were off again and neither of them had any desire to come back up for air for a long time.

About the Author

Shannon Richard
Shannon Richard grew up in the Panhandle of Florida as the baby sister of two overly protective, but loving brothers. She was raised by a more than somewhat eccentric mother, a self-proclaimed vocabularist who showed her how to get lost in a book, and a father who passed on his love for coffee and really loud music. She graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor’s in English Literature, and still lives in Tallahassee where she battles everyday life with writing, reading, and a rant every once in a while. Okay, so the rants might happen on a regular basis. She’s still waiting for her Southern, scruffy, Mr. Darcy and in the meantime writes love stories to indulge her overactive imagination. Oh, and she’s a pretty big fan of the whimsy.

Review

4 stars

A different type of book from I’m used to reading, but certainly not one to miss.

Zack Love outdid himself in bringing forth the many adventures of five men living in the city. Think Sex in the City taken up a notch – life, love and sex from a man’s point of view. I loved the humor inflicted throughout the story. The anecdotes each of the men were both funny and original with a touch of nostalgia that took me to those moments in my life when I too was having my own adventures.

Evan, Carlos, Sammy, Yi Wang and Trevor were all interesting characters to get to know and their colorful outlook in life and many adventures made for an entertaining read that had me laughing out loud more times than I can count. Zack Love did a wonderful job in portraying each of them in a way that made it easy for me to connect to them. They felt real and this was mainly what kept me engaged in the story.

The writing was top-notch and there never was a dull moment. The words flowed through the page with each anecdote and comedic moment brought with perfect timing – I enjoyed it thoroughly.  This is one of those books that you have to experience for yourself to truly understand its brilliance.

Sex is in the Title was a funny, entertaining read that would leave you with a smile on your face and wanting to know more. Definitely a must read!

“So what’s the body count?”

“The body count?”

“You know: how many women have you slept with in your twenty-nine years?”

Evan wasn’t sure whether to overstate the number to look sexually impressive to a soft porn star, or whether to understate the number to look less promiscuous and more like the responsible, clean cut, solid-boyfriend type. Since he still hadn’t quite figured out what Tina was looking for or who she really was, he decided just to tell the truth.

“I’ve been with about sixty-seven women.”

“What do you mean ‘about sixty-seven?’ You say ‘about sixty’ or ‘about seventy.’ But not ‘about sixty-seven.’ You’re obviously keeping track.” Tina looked amused at another opportunity to toy with Evan.

“All right. You got me,” Evan conceded. “I’ve been with precisely sixty-seven women.”

“Unless, of course, you said ‘about’ because the total depends on how you define ‘being with a woman.’ For example, if you just got a blowjob and nothing else then maybe you don’t count that.”

“OK. To be more precise, I’ve had sexual intercourse with sixty-seven women.”

“All right, so then you’ve probably been with many more women than sixty-seven?”

“Yeah. But I don’t keep track of those.” Evan suddenly wondered why he didn’t bother to keep track of anything but consummation.

“I see…So when did you get started on these sixty-seven women?”

“You mean, how old was I when I lost my virginity?”

“Yes.”

“Twenty.”

“So you’ve slept with sixty-seven women in just nine years.”

“Well, actually I’ve had six serious relationships that together took up about two years.”

“Serious? Let’s see…Six serious relationships in two years…So each one lasted an average of four months. You call that serious?”

“Well, it was an intense four months. And I wasn’t seeing anyone else. You know, that’s kind of a big deal in New York,” he added ironically. “Dating someone exclusively for four months in New York is like four years in Anchorage.”

Tina chuckled at Evan’s joke. “All right, so not counting the serious relationships, you’ve slept with…” She crunched some numbers in her head. “You’ve slept with sixty-one women in just seven years…That’s an average of almost nine per year…A new woman every forty days.” Tina seemed impressed, which suddenly made Evan feel rather promiscuous.

About the Author

Zack Love graduated from Harvard College, where he tried to create a bachelor’s degree in Women. With the bachelor portion of that degree in hand, he settled in New York City but – to afford renting his bed-sized studio – found himself flirting mostly with a computer screen and stacks of documents. Determined not to die a corporate drone, Zack decided to sacrifice sleep for screenwriting, an active social life, and Internet startups offering temporary billion-dollar fantasies.

To feed his steady diet of NYC nightlife, he regularly crashed VIP parties in the early 2000s and twice bumped into his burgeoning crush, a Hollywood starlet. But – much to Zack’s surprise – neither of those awkward conversations led to marriage with the A-list actress. Zack eventually consoled himself by imagining fiascoes far worse than those involving his celebrity crush. In the process, he dreamed up a motley gang of five men inspired by some of his college friends and quirky work colleagues. And thus was born Sex in the Title. But the novel is not autobiographical: Zack never had his third leg attacked by any mammal (nor by any plant, for that matter). In fact, keeping his member safe has been one of Zack’s lifelong goals – and one of the few that he’s managed to accomplish.

Synopsis

My life was perfectly mapped out for me since before the day I was born. I followed it, begrudgingly, because it’s what was expected.

And then one day, everything changed.

I woke up.

Different. Independent. Free from all the rules that had surrounded me.

Only I have no idea how I got to where I am. I have no memory of graduating college. No memory of Adam, the boyfriend I live with.

He loves me. And I love him. At least that’s what everyone says.

Except when my memories return to me as dreams, I see a different man than the one everyone claims is perfect for me.

He terrifies me. He makes my heart race and he makes me feel things I’ve never felt before.

I have no idea if I want to welcome the emotional roller-coaster that his piercing brown eyes and messy black hair puts me on every time I get a glimpse of him, or if I want to run back to the safe shelter of the scripted life-plan that used to be mine.

Review

5-stars

Wow! What a roller coaster of a story!

This was one of those stories that grabbed you from the beginning and it didn’t let go even when the story had finished and you had closed the book. I was riveted and completely invested. Stacey Lynn did an amazing job in bringing together all the elements that encompass an awesome read for me. I’ll try to break them down for you because if not I’ll start rambling and never stop. 😉

Great characters

These characters were not easy to get to know. They were complex, intriguing and exasperating. I often found myself tittering between loving them or hating them. I was constantly on the look-out for the next time they messed-up or make things right. Both Amy and Adam kept me guessing and tittering between that love/hate line. I wanted to smack some sense into both, hug them, separate them and locked them in a room for days. Never a dull moment when these two were concerned.

Emotions

Confusion. Curiosity. Astonishment. Exhilaration. Heartbreak. These were just some of the emotions I went through as the story unfolded. You can only imagine how the characters felt, what they went through. The lust, the longing, the sadness and the pain. Those were the most intense emotions Amy and Adam portrayed and like their story, it was messy, edgy and intense. They were all over the place.  I was right there with Amy and Adam. I was pissed. I was happy. I laughed, cried and sighed both in annoyance and in longing.

Plot, Pace and Resolution

Man, did Stacey Lynn keep me guessing! One moment I thought I had it all figured out and them WHAM! She threw me a curve ball and I was right smack in the beginning, not knowing what they hell really happened to Amy or how their story unfolded before the accident. The concept was captivating and the author went out of her way to execute it well. Revelations disclosed at the right time to garner the most impact, every event in its place and coupled with the appropriate emotions made for a riveting read. Nothing was rushed nor was it delayed. Everything paced accordingly so that I could truly understand the depth of Amy and Adam’s relationship so when the moment came for it to unraveled I never felt overwhelmed.

Chemistry and Connection

I’m a sucker for a couple whose chemistry and connection go beyond sex. Amy and Adam had it in spades. Although I had my doubts in the beginning, I was immediately proved wrong as the story progressed. With every moment spent together and every dream and memory Amy encountered, I could glimpse the depth of their connection. Of course, there were those moments when it was their chemistry that shined through and those I enjoyed too. What they had was intense, raw and emotion-driven – be it their interactions, their lovemaking or their silence.

Yes, I loved this story! Packed full of emotions Remembering Us was a love story of two people who found each other once and their journey to find each other again, even when the odds were against them.

“I’m not helping you in order to get a date. I hear you have plenty.”

One side of lips twitches up. “I don’t date, Amy. I don’t need to.”

Right. Because Adam is sex on a stick and most of the girls on campus are willing to jump into his bed without being asked.

“Then you won’t be hurt when I tell you no. Again.”

“I may never recover.” His eyes darken and my belly does that flip-flop thing it’s been doing for the last few weeks when he brushes up against me. I blink, trying to clear my thoughts and regain my sanity, but when I do, Adam’s hand is no longer holding his pencil on the table. Instead, his hand is brushing away a lock of my brown hair and his hand rests on the back of my neck, playing with my hair and pulling me forward.

My breath hitches just as his lips are inches from me. I freeze, putting pressure on his hand to stop the forward movement.

His eyes sparkle in mischief.

“What are you doing?”

His tongue darts out, sucking lightly on his top lip, making it almost disappear. He laughs. “I’m going to kiss you, Ames. And then you’re going to finally agree to a date with me.”

“One kiss and I’ll be unable to resist you? Is that your plan?”

“Sounds like a good plan to me.”

I bet his kisses leave a girl gasping for breath and throwing her morals to the floor along with her clothes.
