Hold Me Until Forever (Grayson Brothers #3)
by Christina Phillips

A Contemporary Romance
From Entangled–Brazen
Released January 4th 2016

She’s the only one he wants…and the one he can never have…

Ella Clark has been in love with Alex Grayson forever. She’s tired of being invisible—or worse, being treated like his kid sister. If she can just get him to drop his iron-fisted control for two seconds, she’ll prove she knows exactly how to blow his mind.

Alex has been fighting his attraction to Ella since her should-have-been-innocent sweet sixteen kiss burned down his world. He’s damaged, and there’s no way he’ll ever drag her into his screwed up life. Until she offers him something he’s always craved—steamy, no-strings sex inside his exclusive BDSM club. Where she’ll be safe from the darkness that haunts him.

Except there’s nothing safe about being with Ella, and the more she gives, the harder it is to let her go. If he stays, he risks everything, but how can he walk away from the only woman he’s ever needed?

4 stars

After reading Hold Me Until Morning, the previous book in the series, I was expectantly anticipating Alex’s story. With his broodiness and quiet intensity, I thought it would be awesome to see him unraveling over a woman. Thankfully, Christina Phillips delivered in that front much as I expected. Alex’s story was packed-full of intense emotions–these mostly coming from Alex and his determination to stay away from Ella.

I found Ella to be a great character to get to know. She was fun and quirky and gave as good as she got even at times when her vulnerability came unto the surface. She cared a great deal for Alex and his family, yet I admired her determination to step away from the family business and follow her dream. Of course, it was her decision to leave Grayson’s that ultimately brought her and Alex together so it was a win-win in all counts.

I enjoyed the way the author went about bringing Alex and Ella’s connection to the page while still allowing me to get to know the characters as individuals. I loved getting to see Alex fight his feelings and attractions to Ella just as much as I enjoyed Ella goading Alex along the way. Needless to say that their chemistry was intense. I enjoyed the back and forth, the lustful glances and the exploration of their attraction. It sure made for a more interesting read to see how Alex, slowly but surely, gave in completely to his attraction–especially after he spent so many years trying to keep it at bay.

Keep in mind that although this is the third book in the series and the characters from the previous books make appearances in this book, Alex and Ella’s story can be read as a stand alone.

All in all, a friends to lovers story that was years in the making and ultimately inevitable. 😉

(Ella’s just told Alex that she’s leaving Grayson’s, and Alex has gone round to her apartment to try and talk her out of it…)

Guilt twisted through her again. Before he’d taken her into Grayson’s she’d been floundering, her self-confidence still in bad shape after her mom’s asshole boyfriend had cornered her when she’d been fourteen. Her succession of part-time and casual jobs was nothing to brag about, and the only constant in her life had been her volunteer work at the Wildlife Retreat.

“I’m not leaving you in the shit. There’s plenty of time to find a replacement for me.”

He gave her a smoldering look. Oh, for fuck’s sake… “No one could take your place.”

If only he were talking about her as a woman and not his indispensable work colleague.

“Hate to say it, but you’ll probably be surprised.”

He didn’t immediately deny it, which stung more than it should.

“You plan on staying in touch?”

She couldn’t tell by his tone of voice whether he gave a damn one way or the other. So much for no one being able to take her place. Looked like he was already over it.

Don’t you dare say it. Heat flooded through her, but the words spilled out anyhow. “I might come visit you in your club one night.”

At least it wiped that infuriating, unreadable expression from his face. He stared at her as though she’d just grown a pair of horns.

“I don’t think so.”

It was the note of finality in his voice that really pissed her off—as if he thought she was joking and he didn’t find it funny.

“Why not? I think I’d really get off on a night at your club.” Take that. If only she didn’t look so rough. It was hard trying to act like a sophisticated woman of the world when she was barefoot and Alex could’ve stepped off the cover of GQ.

“Didn’t know you were into that scene.”

“There’s a lot you don’t know about me.” Including the fact I sleep in one of your old shirts. At least he hadn’t recognized it. Then again, it was about three years old. He’d left it here when the brothers had helped her move in, and somehow she kept forgetting to give it back to him.

Accidentally on purpose.

“I would’ve known about this.”

Was he laughing at her? He didn’t look as if he was, but it was hard to tell what he was thinking.

Whatever. She wasn’t backing down.

“I might not be hardcore, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like to experiment now and then.”

“Define what you mean by ‘experimenting.’”

He damn well was laughing at her. What’s the kinkiest thing I’ve read lately? “Ménages.” That’d shut him up. Or turn him on.

“You enjoy having sex with two men at the same time?”

She glared at him. “You find it so hard to believe that two men would want me?”

“That’s not what I find hard to believe.”

His quick-fire response took her breath away. Trust Alex to compliment and insult her in one easy comment.

She cleared her throat, which kind of ruined the worldly aura she was going for, but it was better than choking on her own words. “So, does your club cater for that kind of thing?”

What was she saying? She’d die if he called her bluff.

He didn’t answer right away. His eyes were all dark and smoky and it was suddenly hard to breathe properly. He seemed to be considering her question, which sent prickles of alarmed excitement over her bare skin.

Excalibur caters for almost anything,” he said.

4 stars
Simon Tyler has been used, discarded and cheated on. A romance author who has given up finding love himself, Simon hasn’t dated in over a year, but when he meets Adrian Keys he can’t help but be drawn to the man. Although he acknowledges that the interest is mutual with Adrian, Simon still has his doubts and lives with the fear of having his heart broken once again.

Adrian Keys is an IT professor who has made a great life for himself in a world where people often see him lacking. Being deaf hasn’t stopped him from living a full life, but although he has tried his hand at relationships love keeps eluding him every time. But he has a great supporting father and a wonderful group of friends at the ready. And that is how he finds himself meeting Simon.

Simon and Adrian are both friends with Chase and although they’ve heard about the other, they had yet to meet. But once they locked eyes on one another, neither could stand to look away.

What I enjoyed the most about this story was how Simon and Adrian’s relationship evolved as the story progressed. I enjoyed watching them start a tentative friendship while their attraction hovered in the background. It was great to see them getting to know each other because it allowed me the chance to see that their connection was more than an attraction to one another. With flirty banter, stolen kisses and honest exchanges about their doubts, Tempeste O’Riley reaffirmed that Simon and Adrian’s connection was worth exploring. So when the time came for them to come together fully, I was ecstatic for them and cheering them on.

Of course, it helped tremendously that I found both characters intriguing and perfect for one another. It was great to see how understanding and patient Adrian was in regards to Simon’s past experiences and his desire to take things slow. His reassurances and support, in turn, boosted Simon’s confidence in himself and what was developing with Adrian.

But as much as I enjoyed this story, I can’t help but feel like there was something missing from it. After spending a couple of days reading the previous books in the series, I found that Signs of Desire lacked that touch of intrigue and conflict the James and Chase’s books had. Although the author brought about the start of a conflict in the form of Simon’s family, I thought it was glossed over and wrapped too quickly for it to make any kind of impact. Nevertheless, Adrian and Simon’s story was an enjoyable read for me.

All in all, a sweet romantic read with a fantastic side of sizzling heat.

A tap to his shoulder pulled Adrian out of his musings. He turned and realized the server was back with their dinners and blushed at how entranced he’d been. He didn’t usually stare, hating when others did that to him. “Sorry.”

“No sorrys.” Chase hugged Adrian, then dug into his bowl of chicken and dumplings.

Simon waved to get Adrian’s attention and smiled when he looked up from his country-fried steak and mashed potatoes with white gravy. “Chase said you were his teacher before and are now a friend.” Adrian nodded. “How’d he convince you to go out with his skinny butt?”

Heat infused Adrian’s face as he laughed. “Chase was very sweet and asked nicely.”

“I love your laugh, by the way. It’s deep like your voice, kind of carefree.” Simon looked slightly sad. Adrian knew he’d had a hard time lately. Chase said he’d been cheated on a year ago and had refused to date since. Adrian knew the feeling, though he pushed the thought away, hoping not to dwell on why he was alone.

He ducked his head slightly. “Thanks? I don’t know how anyone sounds, even myself, so it’s always weird to get comments like that.”

“I said the same when we went out,” Chase commented. “But don’t let him fool you. He’s an excellent teacher and speaks in all his classes. He knows his voice is good.”

“No, I know it’s clear enough for you to understand. That’s something I work hard to make true, but I have never heard my voice, so I have no idea how I sound. And well…. Chase was the first person to ever say something like that.”

He worked regularly with various computer programs to improve and maintain his speech, knowing if he didn’t it could cost him his position at the college. He had always struggled to make sure he spoke well for Hearing people, considering his family’s opinion of his Deafness. His dad knew sign language, but his mom refused to learn, insisting he learn to be “normal.” Adrian had always thought that was extremely unfair, especially as a child. Considering his hatred of being dependent on others for his communication, he was thankful he could read lips and speak as well as he did.

“Then you know the wrong people, ’cause he’s right.” Simon nodded to emphasize his point, confusing Adrian more. Why would he be so determined with his compliments?

Shrugging off his curiosity, Adrian tried to push past the topic. “What do you do?”

Simon’s eyes tightened at the edges slightly, his shoulders drooping a little more. “I’m a writer.”

“He’s a romance author, and a damn good one,” Jamie, or James as he knew the guy’s actual name was, said. Chase talked about his best friend often, though this was the first they’d met. “Don’t let him talk down about what he does.”

“James, hush. He’s not interested in what kind of writing I do.”

“Yes, I am. I love to read. Would I know any of your work?” Adrian didn’t have a large collection of romances, but he had read some. He couldn’t think of any authors named Simon, though.

“You’re an author?” Grayson asked, turning to join their conversation.

The nod seemed reluctant, but the smile on Simon’s face, while small, looked genuine. “Yeah, I write under the name Tyler Jacobs, a pseudonym, but I have a few books out. But, um, I thought we were trying to get to know Adrian and Grayson, not more about boring ol’ me.”

Adrian looked to Grayson and back, then shrugged. “I thought it was so we could all get to know each other.”

“Actually, I think Chase was trying to play matchmaker,” Rhys said, shoving Chase playfully.

“Matchmaker?” Adrian asked. Whom was he trying to set up with whom? And why?

Chase scowled and swatted Rhys. “I was hoping to introduce a few new friends and hoped everyone got on well, brat.” Chase reached out and patted Adrian’s hand, confusing him further. “I swear, I’m not trying to push you if you don’t want to date anyone right now.”

“Just who were you hoping to match up?” Dale asked, smirking as he stared at Chase.

Honestly, Adrian wanted to know that as well. It was obvious Chase meant to fix him up with one of his other friends, but he couldn’t imagine which one. James was married, Chase was happily with Rhys, and he didn’t know Simon, Dale, or Grayson beyond what he’d learned of them since he’d arrived, really.

Only two of the people at the table even interested him, truth be told, but he couldn’t figure out why anyone would try to set him up with either man. In Adrian’s experience, most Hearing people didn’t overly like dealing with having a Deaf partner. His few exes certainly hadn’t, no matter what he did to seem more “normal.”

Chase shook his head, clamping his lips closed as he glared at Rhys.

“Chase?” Adrian said and signed. “Who were you hoping to set me up with and why?”

Their eyes locked for a few moments before Chase looked away, his shoulders drooping. After a moment, Chase turned back to face Adrian and replied, “Grayson. He’s in IT, like you and I are, he’s super loyal and really cute in that quiet reserved-guy kind of way.”

“Grayson?” Well, he was handsome and seemed nice, if a little stoic. Adrian didn’t know how to feel about Chase trying to set him up with one of his friends, though. “I can get my own dates, Chase.”

“I know that. It…. Grayson is really nice, and I’d love to see Rhys’s buddy happy. And I like you, but we’re not right for each other, either. I thought of you two, though. You’d make a beautiful couple. His Native American features and your slightly Asian ones….”

He couldn’t help it, Adrian chuckled, amused at Chase’s logic. The man was sweet and a total flirt, but it seemed he was a bit of a ditz when it came to understanding his friends. Chase frowned, folding his arms across his chest as he stared at Adrian—more a glare really. “Sorry, sorry.”

4 stars

This books was a wonderful surprise, especially since it was my first book by this author and I went into it not knowing what to expect and simply because the concept intrigued the hell out of me.

What I enjoyed the most about this story was the way the author brought several elements together without it taking away from the romance and the difficulties Talon and Asia were facing because of their arrangement. The emotions, the chemistry and the connection were all present and served to convince the reader that Talon and Asia did belong together. I especially enjoyed how Talon and Asia both grew as individuals throughout the story.

I admit, Talon was not my favorite during those first few chapters but as the story progressed Carian Cole made sure to bring all facets of his personality to the page. He was caring, funny, protective and ultimately smitten by Asia. I appreciated that the author took the time to show me those sides of him. In the end, I loved him too!

Asia was a great characters to get to know also. She was kind, smart with a caring yet guarded heart. After learning her story, I couldn’t blame her for putting up her walls where Talon was concerned. Thankfully, as time progressed and with Talon’s help she grew more confident which resulted in her opening herself to having a proper chance with Talon.

I liked the fact that Talon and Asia’s romance was slow in coming. Sure there was chemistry, but even that was subtle in the beginning. Something I came to appreciate since it built up my anticipation to when they finally did come together. Sweet mama! I’ll just say it was well worth the wait and it only got better and better as the story moved on.

Keep in mind that although this is the fourth book in the series it can be read as a stand alone. I haven’t read the previous books but by the time I finished Talon’s story I was intrigued to read more about these men and the women who claimed them.

*I received a copy of this title in exchange of my honest opinion.

Talon Teaser 5

At first she doesn’t even know I’m there, and I have the pleasure of seeing her lying back, her eyes closed, one leg bent up and peeking out from the bubbles. And damn those fucking bubbles, they’re covering everything else.

The universe is doing everything it can to prevent me from seeing my wife naked. I would laugh at that fact if it didn’t bug me so damn much. I’m pretty sure karma is slapping me in the face for insulting her so many times, and karma is a bitch who has no fucks to give about my blue balls.

Her eyes suddenly snap open and she jumps when she sees me, water splashing around her.

“Tally, you scared the shit out of me. Why are you creeping around?” She crosses her arms over her chest and a few bubbles float up in the air. I love that my childhood nickname just slipped out of her mouth without her even realizing it. It sounded so intimate on her lips that I want to hear her say it again and again.

“I wasn’t creeping; I just walked in. Should I wear a bell around my neck like the Princess?” I lean against the doorframe and gaze at her in the candlelight, her skin dewy from the moist heat, and I can’t understand why she doesn’t want me in that tub with her.

“What are you doing in here?”

I cross the room and kneel down next to the tub, taking in the way her eyes shift to my naked chest.

“I wanted to see your bath bomb in action.” My eyes travel languidly down the length of her in the tub and catch glimpses of pink water under the bubbles.

“This one is actually a bubble bomb. See the bubbles?” She lifts her hand and blows the bubbles up over my head.

I grab her hand and bring it to my lips. “I see that. Pink water, too. Very pretty.” I close my eyes as I kiss her hand, tasting the sweet water on her. “What flavor are you tonight? It’s yummy.”

She swallows and I can feel her hand trembling ever so slightly in mine. “It’s cotton candy.”

I nod my approval. “I like it. A lot.”

She shifts in the water, lowering the leg that was up and raising the other, giving me a quick glimpse of her thigh as she does so.

“Do you think about me when you’re in here?” I ask her, releasing her hand so I can dip my fingers into the warm water.

“I think about you all the time.”

My heart does a funny lurch I’m pretty sure it ain’t never done before. “Well, that’s just about the best thing I’ve ever heard.”

I let my hand slide farther into the water until it’s gliding over her outer thigh under the bubbles. “The water feels slippery,” I comment. “So does your skin.”

“It’s from the oils.”

Stretching my other arm out along the edge of the tub, I lean toward her face. “I like how it feels. I should be in there with you, all slippery and wet.”

“You’re too big,” she murmurs, locking her eyes on to mine.

Laughing, I kiss her vanilla flavored lips. “I’m gonna ignore that big comment, baby.”

She smiles against my mouth. “You’re so bad.”

“I know… So, I’m going to have to do this the hard way, then. Since I can’t get in there.” I slide my hand farther down her leg, over her knee to her calf, squeezing gently.

“Do what?”

“Give you your first orgasm.”

A small gasp of surprise comes out of her, and a seductive little grin graces her lips. “Sorry to disappoint you, but I’ve had orgasms before.”

“Not from me.” I rub my nose along hers, feeling her breath against my face. “And that’s gonna change right now, Mrs. Valentine.”

I cup the back of her head with one hand and press my mouth to hers, licking her lips while slowly dragging my other hand up the inside of her leg beneath the water to finally brush my fingers gently across her lower lips. I silently curse the water for not letting me feel her wetness.

Her mouth opens to mine and I delve my tongue inside, tasting the heat of her breath and catching the sweet moan she lets out when I push my finger into her warmth. Her thighs part and her hand comes up out of the water to caress my cheek as I let my hand own her, my thumb rubbing her pulsing clit while I slip my fingers in and out of her. My cock throbs like mad in my shorts, begging to get into her. Holy fuck, is she tight. Three years of no sex is very, very good.

Her thighs squeeze my hand and she grasps the side of my neck, her breath panting against my mouth, and I know she’s there already. I really want to drag this out, tease her and make her crazy, but that seems cruel right now when she’s writhing her hot little core all over my hand and devouring my lips. I like little horny Asia. A lot.

I want to pull her out of the tub and take her right here on the floor and put an end to this madness, but I’m hell-bent on sticking to my promise to her, even if my dick hates me.

Her walls clench and drench around my swirling fingers up inside her, while the rest of her body arches up, pressing against me, her muscles tightening and quivering. I kiss her softly as she recovers from the first of many sexual escapades I have planned for her now that the doors have been opened, so to speak.

“Who’s my girl?” I whisper against her ear, moving my hand up to caress her stomach.

“Me,” she answers breathlessly

“That’s right.”

My girl. The last thing I thought I would ever want, and now, all I could ever want.

I loved this story!

This is my first book by this author and I was thoroughly impressed. It’s not every day that you find a book that touches you and stays with you for days after you finish. That was the case for me. And what’s even more surprising was the fact that its subject matter is not unique to the genre.

This premise has been done before and I have read a few of those stories, but I found that Skye Turner took it a step further. Not only did she bring the perfect range in emotions expected for this type of emotion-driven story, she also brought along plenty of feel-good moments too. Add to those those moments the intense attraction and explosive chemistry between Maloree and Cord and you’ve got yourself a winner.

If you’re a fan of heart-warming stories that deliver plenty of ‘Awww’-inducing moments and sizzling encounters, then I recommend you cuddle up with With Gratitude and Love. Romance and heat during the Christmas season, a perfect combination!

Chapter One

Dear Service Member,

I hope that this message finds you well. It’s such a small token of my appreciation for all that you and those who serve beside you do, but it’s all I can send from the home front.

I’m writing to you from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I’m an author and while it seems like such a meaningless task to some, to me it’s so fulfilling. I create elaborate romance stories for readers around the world who pick up my books. The fact that I can create a brief respite for those who read my written words and involve them in my stories and characters is very rewarding.

Though not nearly as rewarding as what you do.

I’m sorry, I’m rambling.

I simply wanted to send you this cup of coffee (or tea, hot chocolate, iced coffee, etc.) to show that I’m thinking of all of you back home. You’re service and sacrifice is noted and appreciated. At least by me.

I sincerely appreciate your sacrifice in leaving those you love behind to serve and protect our country and our freedoms. It’s because of you and those who came before you that I am able to chase my dreams and live my life free in the country I love.

I’ll send this off now, but again, thank you for your service.

                With Gratitude and Love,

Maloree Arceneaux

Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Just as I’m hitting “Send” on the message and sending another Java for a Joe, my personal assistant, Beth, pops her head into my office. “Mal, do you have those chapters done? I can get started on reading through them if you have them ready.” Her reminder is not really needed, but I do appreciate the way she keeps me on task.

I nod as she asks, “Do you think you’ll make your deadline?”

Turning in my chair to face her, I pop my back and stretch my arms high above my head. Moaning as it alleviates some of the tension residing there, I grunt at her. “I have chapters one through twelve done. They’re not edited, so they’ll be rough, but I did finish twelve just now.” She looks at me and sees my laptop behind my chair.

Her brows raise and she smiles. “That’s not the book. You just sent more coffee to the troops?”

I grin. “I did. It’s something I can do and the thankful messages I get every week, show me that the gesture is appreciated. Most of them thank me for the coffees and really it’s me who’s thanking them.” I spin back around as my computer makes a whooshing sound to show the transaction has gone through. “It’s a two buck cup of coffee. It’s nothing for me to send that, yet, they thank me as if I’m sending them boxes of chocolate molten lava cake. It’s a great feeling and I’m happy to do it.”

Beth leans over my shoulder to glance at my screen. “Send me the link again. I keep saying I need to do this, and then I get caught up in working for you and forget. You slave driver.”

I laugh and wave my hand behind me. “Yeah, I’m so harsh. I’ll send you the link and then I need to get back to work.

This book is not going to write itself. Shoo.”

She chuckles as I hear her head for the door. “Hey, do you need a top off on your coffee or are you still good?”

Looking down, I see my empty mug. “I need more. You know java fuels my soul and keeps the words flowing. I’m only at about six cups so far today. You’re slacking.”

She swoops in and grabs my cup as I once again start to type. “Uh huh. You drink too much coffee, boss.”

I grunt, “Nah. No such thing.” And once again immerse myself in my story.

New Release: Consent by Nancy Ohlin *Review*

Consent Book Cover Consent
Nancy Ohlin
Young Adult
Simon Pulse
November 10th 2015
288 pages

In this sexy and intriguing novel, an intense—and passionate—bond between a high school senior and her music teacher becomes a public scandal that threatens the reputation of both.

Bea has a secret.

Actually, she has more than one. There’s her dream for the future that she can’t tell anyone—not her father and not even her best friend, Plum.

And now there’s Dane Rossi. Dane is hot, he shares Bea’s love of piano, and he believes in her.

He’s also Bea’s teacher.

When their passion for music crosses into passion for each other, Bea finds herself falling completely for Dane. She’s never felt so wanted, so understood, so known to her core. But the risk of discovery carries unexpected surprises that could shake Bea entirely. Bea must piece together what is and isn’t true about Dane, herself, and the most intense relationship she’s ever experienced in this absorbing novel from Nancy Ohlin, the author of Beauty.

I’ve pondered this review for a while, but I always come to the same result–It was OK.

When I first read the blurb, I was immediately anticipating reading this ‘sexy and intriguing’ story. However, I found nothing sexy nor intriguing about it as a whole.

First, there was Bea. Try as I might I could not connect with her in any way. I came to understand where she was coming from but ultimately, I couldn’t get over her immaturity and inclination to lie.

Then there was all the music references. Honestly, it was too much for me to swallow. In truth, it just took me away from the story.

I liked Dane well enough, but I would have appreciated reading his side of the story mainly because I was curious to know what drove him to act on his feelings towards Bea. I think having his POV would have added a lot more to this story.

Like the title states, this story mainly revolves around the issue of consent. In my opinion, Bea was not fit to engage in any type of romantic relationship–with her teacher or otherwise. I think she already had many issues she should have been dealing with before becoming romantically involved with anyone.

Consent was an okay read for me. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it either.

A Moment of Weakness
by Brooklyn Skye

A Contemporary Romance
From Entangled
Released October 19th 2015

Until her new job starts in September, buttoned-up elementary school teacher Laurel Harris is at loose ends and in need of cash. Fortunately her best friend’s older brother is a single dad and desperately needs a nanny. Or so she’s told. She doesn’t anticipate him being such a menacing, muscled, and undeniably gorgeous man…or that he has zero interest in hiring a nanny.

Micah Crane will do right by his young daughter, no matter the cost. And right now, that cost is juggling parenthood with long hours at his bar and working as an enforcer for a notorious crime boss. He doesn’t need another complication in his life, but the sweet, frustratingly opinionated little blonde hell-bent on caring for his daughter stirs his blood like no woman ever has.

All it takes is a moment of weakness to ignite the lust blazing between them. A moment that will unravel their self-control and unleash all of Micah’s darkest secrets…

Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Kobo

I liked Micah and admired his determination to do right by his daughter. He was a hard-working man who had to made some hard decisions and now has to live with their consequences. He was stubborn and proud, but could also be mean and unapologetic. Sadly, it was his mean streak that turned me off.

Then there was Laurel. A young woman who wanted to change the world one child at a time, Laurel was smart, quirky and hard-working. In the beginning, I admired her strength of character and her resolve in not getting involved with Micah. She did an amazing job with Shae and had her moments when she stood up to Micah. However, by the end of the story my admiration dwindled. I think she forgave Micah too easily, especially after what he said to her before she left.

These character flaws along with a lack of connection between Laurel and Micah are the reasons why this story was just ‘okay’. Although I enjoyed the overall concept and felt no need to skim or give up reading this story at any point, I can’t say that the story made an impact on me. However, I did enjoy Shae and April’s characters and what they brought to the story. I also enjoyed the sexual tension Micah and Laurel shared. Although not as ‘Brazen’ as I’ve come to expect from this imprint, the scenes were hot and showcased the intense attraction between these two.

Teaser 2

She opened her mouth, but before she could get anything out, he said, “How about we show you where you’ll be sleeping,” and walked out of the kitchen, gesturing for her to follow.

Silently, she trailed him, her suitcase bumping along the carpeted hallway. With each step, she catalogued what she knew of him so far.

Right foot. Raising six-year-old alone.

Left foot. Has taken some precautions in keeping Shaelynn safe, but might need some help with that.

Right foot. His backside is really, really nice to look at.

Left foot. I wonder if those muscles under his back pockets feel as hard as they look—

“It’s only a two-bedroom apartment,” he said, suddenly coming to a stop. The movement was too fast, and by the time her brain caught up, she was already slamming into the back of him. Right against the butt she’d been staring at.

Oh my god.

He twirled fast and clamped his huge hand around the top of her arm to steady her, those brown eyes ticking from her eyes to her forehead to her ears, mouth, over her shoulder, then back to her eyes. The force of his stare triggered a nervous giggle from her lips.

“I’m so sorry,” she said, forcing her gaze to stay with his even though the intensity was making her a little dizzy. “I didn’t expect you to stop right there.”

“We’re at the end of the hallway,” he said, unamused.

Right. But… She pointed to where the carpet dead ended. “I couldn’t see because of your…”

Butt. Not a chance she’d admit that.

Your entire ginormous body blocking my view. Yeah, not that either.

“Because of…um, you,” she said, swallowing down what she hoped was all of her embarrassment.

A fun, light hearted romance with plenty of heat!

Vik enjoys the rewards of being a top athlete–endorsement deals, snow bunnies, celebrity status. But one thing he doesn’t like is being sent away while his name is cleared of something he did not do. With plenty of time in his hands, Vik continues to do what he does best–snowboard and women.

Elena is spending her last winter break with her friends at a ski resort before starting her internship hours before graduation. However, Elena doesn’t ski, so she finds herself facing the Bunny Slope and failing miserably at it. The upside: looking into the eyes of the rude guy who saved her and having to keep away from the slopes because of an ankle injury. But her luck soon turns for the worst (or so it seemed!) when her internship falls through, leaving her with no option but to stay at the ski resort to complete her internship requirement while sharing an apartment with Vik.

What I enjoyed the most about this story was the way C.J. Martín brought Vik and Elena together. On the surface these two seemed like an unlikely pair, but once you get to know them you come to understand how well they complemented one another. From the moment they met, you could see that there was something there to build upon. They are both independent, hard-working individuals out to prove to themselves and others that they are more what they appear to be.

It helped too that they shared a connection too. Granted, initially it was their physical attraction for one another that brought them together (and what amazing chemistry these two shared!). But as the story progressed and they got the opportunity to share more about themselves, that physical attraction turned into something more. I enjoyed their candid moments, their flirty banter and their bickering. They brought out the best in one other and soon I was cheering them on to get their issues sorted out.

If you enjoy a romance that’s both fun and sexy, then you will enjoy Snowbound. The characters were fun and interesting to get to know and their story had a fantastic mix of humor, emotions and heat. All in all, a very enjoyable read!

A Contemporary Romance
Released October 5th 2015

People change. Motives change. Situations can change.

For six months, Hannah Matthews has held it together as best she can for her twin girls. On Labor Day, she returned from their vacation only to discover her husband had cleaned out the apartment and bank account, but left the bills. Over-educated and under-employed, her lease has increased, her income hasn’t, and she’s forced to seek an unconventional living situation.

Affluent businessman Gavin Meyers is looking for someone to punish since his divorce has left him bitter and wounded. When his lawyer suggests he find a hobby, he can only think of one: revenge. When he spots a personal ad for a sugar daddy, he knows this woman will suffice.

Keeping it perfectly legal, he has a lawyer draft a contract, the Terms of Service for their new life together. It seems cut and dried, but love, lust, and revenge are complications that defy every perfect plan.

Amazon | iBooks | Kobo | Nook

*sigh* So, not what I was expecting after reading the blurb.

Hannah Matthews is in a bind. She needs to find a solution to her financial problems, so she comes up with the perfect solution–finding herself a sugar daddy. How hard can that be? She’s pretty, charming and can hold a decent conversation. Plus it will give her the time she needs to save some money to make a better life for herself and her girls.

Gavin Meyers is definitely not looking for a relationship. Currently going through a divorce from a woman who proved to be nothing like she portrayed herself to be, Gavin is looking for some revenge. So what better way to feel better about himself than by reeling Hannah in and then pulling the rug right from under her? But what he was not expecting was to be drawn to Hannah’s presence or her girls. Soon he finds himself thinking about what could be instead of exacting his revenge.

I think my biggest mistake when I started reading this story was that I had made assumptions as to what to expect from it. I expected a bit more chemistry and a lot more heat. Sadly, it didn’t live up to my expectations nor did it leave a lasting impression. I attribute this to the characters. Both Gavin and Hannah lacked that ‘je ne sais quoi’ quality that would make them stand out in a story. In truth, I found them both boring and simple. There wasn’t anything about them that stood out, nothing that interested me enough to invest myself in their lives. And that alone, put me off from conjuring any interest in their story.

I do think that Emma Nichols came up with a great concept, she just didn’t back it up properly. There was too much whiplash-inducing ramblings, unnecessary miscommunication and lack of chemistry and/or connection. For the life of me, I could not feel these two being right for each other.

Hannah was an okay character. She was a good mother and a great care taker, but that’s about all I glimpsed of her. And Gavin, well he was a bore. His broodiness wasn’t attractive and it bordered on annoying at the best of times. He needed to get a healthy dose of reality, take a break from his pity party and enjoy life. He did eventually, but by then my interest had been lost.

It would have helped a lot for me to glimpse even a spec of connection between these two. But alas, I didn’t. Their chemistry was lacking and didn’t change much as the story progressed. I did enjoy some of their interactions and the growth they had gone through as the story moved along, but for me it didn’t feel monumental nor natural.

All in all, this story was not what I expected nor the right type of story for my liking.

Easing himself onto the lounger, he carefully positioned them and once satisfied, covered them. The way he tucked them in moved her more than she could express. Suddenly, she felt the need to hide her face against his neck and breathe him in. He smelled like leather and the way he held her felt like security. She wrapped a hand around his neck and was surprised to hear his heart beat erratically at her touch. Testing her theory, she tried again, caressing his cheek with the back of her hand. Laying her hand over his heart, she discovered she had achieved the same results. Smiling, Hannah nestled in closer.

“What are you smiling about?” he asked mirthfully.

“What makes you think I’m smiling?” She challenged.

He chuckled. “I can feel your face move.” He stroked her cheek. “Tell me.”

Her newfound knowledge made her feel powerful and bold, so she quickly revealed what had made her react. “I can make your heart beat faster,” she said as she leaned away from him so she could watch his reaction.

“I’m not surprised,” he commented absently. At the time, he was tracing her jaw line with his finger.

His touch was breathing life back into her. She had forgotten what it was like to feel. Like a drug, his caress was intoxicating. Her eyelids drooped halfway as she allowed emotion to overrule reason. What would one night hurt?

Suddenly Gavin spoke. “I bet I can make your heart beat faster,” he murmured as he stared at her.

“Mmm, how’s that?” She offered a lazy smile.

His face grew serious as he studied her. She felt him doing that thing again, measuring the distance. She knew without him acknowledging it, her heart was racing. Lucky for him, he hadn’t commented. It would’ve ruined the moment because right now all she could concentrate on was the need for his lips on hers.

Not one to disappoint, Gavin dropped his head several degrees to connect with her hungry lips. It was as before, a surge of passion washed over her and nearly knocked the breath from her. His hand was pulling her closer, but she couldn’t see how it would be possible unless she were to suddenly fuse with him. When they finally broke free, she touched her lips in surprise at the tingling sensation left there.

It was too much. He finally had a chance to be close to her. He couldn’t scare her off by coming on too strong. “I’m just going to hold you for the rest of the night. You’re safe with me Hannah,” Gavin said softly as he held her face against his shoulder.

Over the next few minutes, Gavin felt her body slowly relax; slowly grow limp, until at last he knew she was asleep. This was when he felt most comfortable talking to her, telling her what he never would’ve told anyone. “I think I may be falling in love with you, Hannah.” He sighed and brushed her hair away from her face. “Funny thing about love,” he mused. “You never see it coming. For me, you snuck in like a thief in the night and stole my heart.” Then he nestled them deeper under the covers, wrapped his arms more tightly around her, and fell asleep.

New Release! Sinner’s Steel (Sinner’s Tribe Motorcycle Club #3) by Sarah Castille *Review, Excerpt and Giveaway*

Sinner’s Steel (Sinner’s Tribe MC #3)
by Sarah Castille

An MC Erotic Contemporary Romance
From St. Martin’s
Released October 6th 2015

He’s hell on wheels and she’s the one who got away.  Sinner’s Steel, the third novel in the Sinner’s Motorcycle Club series is a vivid and powerful MC romance from Sarah Castille.  Fans of Joanna Wylde and Kristen Ashley’s biker romances will love this intense, rough and raw addition to the Sinner’s Motorcycle Club series.

Tall, dark, and dangerously handsome, Zane “Tracker” Colter is the strong, silent type of tattooed muscle biker who drives women wild. But as a master of strategy for the outlaw MC club, Sinner’s Tribe, he doesn’t have time to play around with groupies and biker chicks-especially when he can’t stop thinking about Evie, the girl who got away…

Evie’s been in love with Zane ever since they were children-until he broke her heart and disappeared. Now he’s back in her life, bigger and badder than ever. Zane is stunned by how beautiful and confident Evie’s become, using her artistic talent to customize motorcycles. He wants her so bad, he’d ride through fire to win her back. There’s one problem: Evie is dating his deadliest rival-the leader of the Black Jacks-and if Evie and Zane hook up, there’ll be hell to pay…

4 stars

Zane Colter and Evie were childhood friends. They, along with Jagger (hero on Rough Justice), served as their own support system. Along the years and as they grew older, Zane and Evie started feeling more than brotherly feelings towards each other. Then came the night that would forever change the course of their lives. Betrayal. Secrets. Lies. These are the results of that fateful night and the very things they have to deal with once again when their paths cross in the most unexpected of ways.

As a follower of this series, I was so looking forward to Zane’s story. Not unlike his MC brothers, Zane exuded an air of mystery, but for whatever reason I always thought there was so much more to him that what was put out there. Now after reading his story I am glad to know that I was right–even if what I found out turned out to be more than I had anticipated.

I loved Zane. He was complex to the core–tough, hard-ass, sweet and loyal to a fault. And when in the presence of the woman he loved, all those traits came to the surface tenfold. How could I resist? A sexy biker with a heart of gold who would do anything for his MC and his woman. *sigh*

I liked Evie for him. Although at times I found her a bit flighty, she had backbone and a great heart. I liked that she was smart and supportive, but mostly I came to like her because she was fair and honest when the time called for it. These two were great individuals, but together they were even more wonderful. I enjoyed the hell out of their journey and that’s always a plus for me.

As I’ve come to expect from this author, Evie and Zane’s chemistry was off the charts HOT. They shared the kind of chemistry that sizzled just under the surface whenever they spent time together only to explode on impact as soon as they touched. Sheesh! Some of those scenes they shared were panty-melting and they weren’t even getting physical with each other. So yeah, they were hot together. However, I did feel that their connection lacked some depth. Sarah Castille did a great job of presenting the connection they shared as teenagers, but in the present time it lacked some strength. At least for me. It was clear that it was there, but I would have loved to see it developed further, especially since they had changed and drifted apart as adults.

Keep in mind that although this is the third book in the series, it can be read as a stand alone. But truly, who would miss out on all the biker goodness that this series has to offer. Jagger and Cade are fantastic and their stories are worth the time as well.

All in all, an emotional yet sexy second chance story with some actions and intrigue thrown into the mix to round it out.

*I received a copy of this title in exchange of my honest opinion.

“I can’t do this.” Evie pulled away, her cheeks burning with a flush of heat. She knew Zane, the dark, passionate, slightly awkward high-school senior who made her stomach flutter when he smiled; the boy with a good heart who’d been dealt a bad hand in life; her protector and one-time friend. But this man . . . this biker—broad and heavily muscled, tatted and pierced, ruthless and dominant, who walked and talked with confidence and swagger, and so easily manipulated her body, awakening long dormant passion and desire—was a stranger to her.

A stranger who made her body respond with a single touch. A stranger who ignited a blazing hot chemistry that made her feel alive. A stranger who had disappeared when her father’s body was still warm on the ground.

Zane released a tortured breath and turned her to face him. “Things didn’t go right between us when we met the other day. We had things we needed to say, and we didn’t get to say them.” His corded throat tightened when he swallowed. “Ask me, Evie.”

Emotion welled up in her chest, pushing the words to the tip of her tongue. Although she knew the question was a betrayal in itself, she needed to hear the truth. For Ty. And for her own peace of mind. “Did you kill my dad?”

“No, sweetheart. It wasn’t me.”

Her breath left her in a rush, her knees giving way. If not for his arms around her, she would have fallen to the ground.

“In my heart I knew, but I needed to hear it,” she whispered.

“And I needed to say it.” He brushed a rough finger over her cheek. “After I saw you again, and we had words, I thought we were done. I thought I wouldn’t be able to get over the fact you didn’t wait for me. But I couldn’t stop thinking about you. When I was at your place, and T-Rex had his hands on you . . .”  He drew in a ragged breath. “We’re not done, Evie. I don’t expect you to forgive me for leaving the way I did, and maybe one day I will understand why you didn’t wait, but I will never be done with you.” He cupped her face between his hands and kissed her.

At first, his lips were soft, hesitant, as if he thought she might slap him again, but when a low moan escaped her lips, he deepened the kiss, pulling her closer as he ravaged her mouth. Evie wrapped her arms around him and molded her body against his as she met every desperate stroke of his tongue with one of her own. His grip tightened and when she tried to pull away, gasping for breath, he nipped her bottom lip demanding more.

Shocked by the intensity of her reaction, she wrenched herself away, the rapid rise and fall of her chest matching his, but when she took a step back, he followed, one hand curled behind her neck, the other gentle on her hip as he pressed his lips to her temple. “I got shit to do tonight, but I need to see you again. I’ll swing by your place tomorrow night.”

Her blood chilled, and not just because she wasn’t ready for him to meet Ty. “You can’t. I . . . I have plans.”

“Cancel them.”

God, those two words, demanding and defiant, laced with expectation and desire, did strange things to her stomach. If it had been anyone else she had agreed to meet for dinner, she would have done as he asked. But she had no way of contacting Viper other than making a trip to his clubhouse, which she wasn’t prepared to do, and as Connie said, he wasn’t the kind of man to blow off in such a casual manner. Plus, she needed some distance. Kissing Zane had never been in the program.

“I can’t.”

“Then I’ll find you.” He didn’t wait for a response. Instead he reached over her for the paint box, then took her hand and led her out of the closet, as if he could keep her from running with only his touch.

It would be so easy to give in
